Fucking pissed! Any US bank that can handle checks drawn on a Canadian bank?

I am super pissed this morning. I am about to close a 2rd bank account in 6 months. I get paid in checks drawn on a Canadian bank. First it was Washington Mutual start started bitching about checks over $5000, they want to send them to collections which takes 6-8 weeks. I said fuck that, shopped for a bank and Wachovia said that should be no problem. And it wasn't, for 2 months. Now I go to deposit a check and they tell me it'll be 6-8 weeks and then they'll charge me $75 for such privilege. I am uber pissed! There's absolutely no reason why in this high tech age we need to deal with such bullshit.

Anything over $1000 from overseas should be in a wire... :pimp

It's fairly standard, but usually they say four weeks and that's about how long it takes. six to eight weeks .... that's fucking crap. If you speak to your bank manager, he more than likely will cash them for you without the delay, if you have a history of depositing overseas checks (which clear).

What about switching to bank wire? :pimp:pimp:pimp

Weird, you should speak to a bank manager. Assuming that you have a good banking history and don't have a brand new account Canadian checks should not be a problem. I deposit large Canadian checks up to $10,000 into my BOA business acct. all the time and there is no delay at all.

The Canadian company should be sending you what's known as par crossing checks, not the standard checks that are issued in Canada. The par crossing checks will route to the Canadian bank account but encodes the checks using the US banking routing codes. Using a par crossing check is just as though your cashing a US check and should go instantly. Its not really your banks fault here, its the Canadian company that should be sending you a different type of check.
