Washington Post: TMM/NATS - User Data Stolen From Pornographic Web Sites

User Data Stolen From Pornographic Web Sites
Hackers Apparently Were After E-Mail Addresses for Spam, Not Credit Card Information

NEW YORK -- Consumers of Internet pornography who secretly signed up for memberships on adult-oriented Web sites in the past few months may be in for a shock -- some of their personal information, including e-mail addresses, may have been compromised by a security breach.

Though the breach, which potentially could affect tens of thousands of customers, reportedly did not involve the theft of credit card information, it could nonetheless have a significant impact on the lucrative Internet pornography industry, according to those who monitor the market. These observers note that online porn relies, as much as anything else, on the promise that its customers can enjoy complete anonymity as they indulge their favorite niche pastimes from the privacy of their own computers.

"It's a huge concern," said Jason Tucker, whose Falcon Foto company boasts one of the world's largest erotic libraries. "The relationship we have with our customers is based on trust. The industry's concern is if that trust has been violated, we could see a drop-off in customers."

It had links to all of the threads about TMM/NATS and John, with a message encouraging thier boycott. The admins apparently saw fit to censor it and therefore me. Which is fine, I will leave it like that, with a small edit.

Minusonebit's confirmed mental illness.

commonsense 01-03-2008 11:39 PM

Your obsession with TMM is just plain sad. No new information in the "news" article, and there's that same Tucker quote again. :upsidedow

cykoe6 01-03-2008 11:40 PM

Congrats on your seemingly successful campaign to discredit and harm the industry in which most of us work (except you) :321GFY

It has nothing to do with tmm, it could be anything as long as he gets attention.

Once again:

Sad day for GFY.

I think the threads are still there. Apparently, me linking to them is an act of "personal attack". Whatever, their site, their sandbox, their rules. Sad that we have to resort to censorship on an adult-industry site, the same industry that is the very first to cry (and rightfully so) about free speech when someone tries to remove such a site.

RP Fade 01-04-2008 12:03 AM

maybe this will make the cover of Time or Newsweek..

don't blame him, it's not his fault this started, he might of fanned the flames. The blame lies solely on the shoulders of John Albright.

He ran a program that at best had leaks.
He denied it could be his program to blame.
It could of even been an inside job.
He tried to cover it up with legal threats of a C&D.
He never checked the system properly when it was so obvious it was compromised he had to look into it.

I understand the reason many are sticking their heads in the sand and diverting the attention from the person who is to blame for this to a little person. But are they also partly to blame for this? Programs who knew there was a problem and decided to keep quiet?

As for the GFY admin, this board is full of personal attacks, why make m1b a target?

Holly 01-04-2008 01:42 AM

How the hell do they know that they "secretly" signed up??

I'm sure a lot of people don't give a fuck if anyone knows they look at porn. Not everyone is hiding it from their boss and wife.

The breach was first reported on the blog In Corruption We Trust, by Keith Kimmel, who has two adult Web sites and uses the software.
IF I was Playboy I would sue the Post and Keith for not acknowledging that the first report was HERE at GFY!

Keith did you goto College?

"Bondage and Stuff?"

Iron Fist 01-04-2008 05:50 AM

Strangely this crusade is kinda pointless... how would a surfer really know what NATS is in the first place? I mean check the join forms... I don't usually see a reference to NATs anywhere on the page.. however I do see references to billers and such... so. would it affect sales? Not really...

RomaCash 01-04-2008 07:55 AM

its crap, because we wanted to buy it for our affiliate program.
Now I'm not sure.
