Britain and Scandinavia countires a few questions

Have the goverments bought in porn filtering at the ISP?
Has this worked at all to slow porn down?
Has it slowed the ISP's down much?
Is they any affect on internet speed and page loading searching etc?

Thanks

Its so bad if countries start filtering sites. It defeats the purpose of the internet.

Labor's plan to introduce mandatory internet filters will send Australia down a censorship path similar to China's and Singapore's, but will not stop computer-savvy children looking at banned sites, according to the NSW Council for Civil Liberties.

"Labor makes no apologies to those who argue that any regulation of the internet is like going down the Chinese road," Mr Conroy said yesterday. "If people equate freedom of speech with watching child pornography, then the Rudd Labor Government is going to disagree."

Britain and Scandinavia had successful internet restrictions, he said. "The internet hasn't ground to a halt in the UK, it hasn't ground to a halt in Scandinavian countries and it's not grinding the internet to a halt in Europe."

I agree, I have no problem with CP sites but I think it was allmp3.com that got blocked by a court order and the ISP's fought hard against it trying to prevent it .

Hmm... he's right, I can't access allmp3.com. And to think I left the UK for Denmark because I mistakenly believed it to be the last bastion of freedom in the Western world. What a con..... I want my 60% back!!!!

I think its the only site blocked beside sites that are CP sites, the ISPs appealed the court order because of the importance of a decision.
The CP sites being blocked was a voluntary decision by the ISPs.
