Flying from Canada to United States - Passport needed now?

Is the law in effect yet for needing a passport to get into the States? Some friends wanted to fly to Vegas around January 20th, but I am not sure if I can get my passport in time.

Anyone know how long it takes to get one if you apply in person? Am I out of luck?

Are u in Toronto area, if so I can help out. Yes you will need one to fly. If not- Denied Entry

evildick 01-01-2008 03:34 PM

I'm not near Toronto. For some reason I thought I read somewhere that there was a deadline of January 31, 2008 for needing a passport, but I can't seem to find anything on that.

Every place seems to say you needed it as of January 23, 2007.

:(

Actually the January 31, 2008 deadline looks like it is for land and sea travel. I bet the passport office is backlogged all to fuck right now.

We will deny entry to Canadians looking to loose their money in Vegas then go home ... but pay for medical, provide housing, food and identification cards to broke asses from Mexico.

What do you mean it doesn't make sense?

here is a trick , when you get to US Customs , ask for "Enrique"

Then keep a 50 spot palmed in your hand. When Enrique comes shake his hand and say " Canadia loves New York" . He will then stamp you in.

If you drive to the downtown passport office in Toronto (i believe on university street) and pay for the expedited passport (I think $30 extra) you should get your passport in 10 business days. I got mine that way a while back...

You should be fine for your vegas trip if you go asap to have this done.

If you are flying, you need a passport, driving you don't, but expect to be harassed if you don't have one.

I'm still waiting for my passport to come in, it's been over 2 months, I'm gonna give them a call to see whatsup.

If I remember correctly, you can get it done in major cities in one day for about 200 bucks. Though that was about 4 yrs ago. My gf, and her best friend are in customs now, but used to be in the passport office, so I'll ask her when she gets home in an hour

They have postponed passports for land, sea, or air travel to and from USA/Canada or USA/Mexico until this summer.

Picture ID & Birth Certificate will suffice.

If you can't get it in time, you could always drive across the border and then fly from the nearest airport.

If you do go to the passport office, make sure you complete the Passporte Online forms and print them out. You get the express line if you've done it that way.
