The Worst New Year's Eve Ever

I had great New Year's Eve plans as I was going to go XXX Jay's New Year's Eve Party.

It is probably still going on as I write this.

Instead I ended up spending the night at St Joseph?s Hospital with my wife, Kira Silver.

My wife had what I thought was a pimple on her leg. I thought she was being a baby so I didn't pay much attention to her complaining until she woke up Sunday afternoon and her entire calf was red.

We went to Urgent Care and they told us she had a staph infection and cellulitis. They operated on her right away and cut out the infection, gave her prescription for antibiotics and Vicodin and sent us home.

Monday when she woke up she was complaining about the pain and stated vomiting so we called the doctor and he told us to go to the ER.

We went to the ER and the doctor told us that the antibiotics she was on should be working, gave her a prescription for nausea, were about to send us home. They took her temperature as a final precaution before we left; it had soared up to 104.

They immediately transferred her in the cardiac unit, and pumped full of antibiotics and fluids.

I just got home to clean up and check my emails, after sending all night in chair. She is still there until tomorrow

I am writing this so that if anyone gets what looks like a pimple that starts really bad to take it very seriously. The doctors told me there is a huge outbreak of cellulitis in the LA; the good news is if caught early it is very treatable with antibiotics.

I hope you all have a Happy New Year?s

Oh and our apology to Joe from AMA for not calling him to cancel her shoot earlier yesterday.

Thanks JFK.

Hit me up when you get free I am the new VP of Sales at KSEX and want to talk to you.

TheAmericanCannibal 01-01-2008 12:42 PM

Dan-

I feel your wife's pain-
I have been laid up for 10 days now and the wound still hurts from where they cut it out.

Bro- the worst pain ever-
Call me and let's compare notes

I want to see if she is on the same regime as I am with the Bactrim ( Septra)

Depending on whether she has MRSA or not-
Mine was diagnosed MRSA and I am willing to bet anything that she might have it too-

This is pandemic in the Valley and many in Vegas will unlikely contract this as well

People need to be warned and educated on this

DivaShane 01-01-2008 12:44 PM

That is awful! My sympathies to you and your wife. I hope she gets better soon.

CarlosTheGaucho 01-01-2008 12:52 PM

Well I hope everything will turn to be ok, I had enough drama and tragedies in 2007, wishing everyone to stay safe and most importantly - healthy!

Not sure what happened to me last night..... We had a group of friends over and I had a few drinks. We were playing darts in my garage when suddenly my body started to ache. Then a headache came in. Before I knew it I was freezing and felt like crap all night long.... Woke up, felt fine.

Very strange.

RAM 01-01-2008 01:22 PM

Bummer wishing you both good health for 08 !!

Next time you visit your wife, take along a pillow and place it over her face until she gives up.

Go out and find a healthy girl who won't mess up your holiday with some bizarre infection!

You could have had the best night of your life had it not been for your current wife.

Spunky 01-01-2008 01:50 PM

That sucks man..Hope she gets better soon

LiveDose 01-01-2008 01:56 PM

So sorry to hear about that Dan and Kira - I hope you have a speedy recovery. We've been reading and hearing about a lot of staph infections lately.

Brad

pornguy 01-01-2008 04:03 PM

Damn man that sucks. But if you think about it this way the new years was a smash. She is alive and well.

Robbie 01-01-2008 04:07 PM

Wow Dan. Tell Kira we said "hi" and have a speedy recovery.
People everywhere are getting staph infections. It's crazy. The keyboard player in my band had the same shit happen to him a few weeks ago. He damn near died and they had to cut so deep into his inner thigh that it's ridiculous. He's the third person I know (just civilians, not industry) that has had a staph infection and almost died from it.
He actually got his while doing yard work and scratching his leg on a rose bush thorn!
I guess all the warnings about the over-use of antibiotics and creation of "super" staph infections are finally coming true.

Porno Dan 01-01-2008 04:25 PM

Thanks for all the kind words. I am on my way back to the hospital.

I will send her all the well wishes.

Dan

JustDaveXxx 01-01-2008 04:31 PM

So sorry to here that.. It is becoming a very serious epidemic in the United States and especially in Porn valley.

I am sorry that you and your wife had to deal with that, but I, and I think other people really do appreciate you sharing your story.

Staph is no joke!! The new strains are very resistant to %90 of the antibiotics out there. And that is if you catch it early!! You catch it late, it can kill you!! or when they cut it out, it can cause serious permeant muscle damage.

Being in Brazilian jui-jitsu, wrestling and MMA for 16 years i know Staph and ring worm very well!! Its not just on the wrestling mats anymore!!

Hope your wife gets better..

davecummings 01-01-2008 04:43 PM

Hang in there, and I hope that she has a speedy and full recovery!

Dave

LadyMischief 01-01-2008 04:55 PM

Hope Kira is feeling better soon! Those infections are becoming all to common these days.

Lee 01-01-2008 05:36 PM

Damn that sucks, I got cellulitis about 2 years ago after I whacked my shin on the underside of a table. I had the most foul nausea for about a day or two followed by a month of total agony whereby any movement of the leg was unbearable.

Hope your lady gets better soon, its a horrid one alright.

2MuchMark 01-01-2008 05:49 PM

Holy shit!

Good luck, Dan!

hakkrdan 01-01-2008 05:59 PM

Hi, Dan -

I had this happen to me three years ago - started out the same way, and put me in the hospital for four days. Scary situation, and I wish you both the best of luck. I know how much that sucks.

tony286 01-01-2008 06:05 PM

Sorry to hear that Dan hope she feels better :) How does one get that?

Monique Niccole 01-01-2008 06:05 PM

I hope Kira gets well soon. That's an awful way to ring in the New Year.

WWC 01-01-2008 06:18 PM

Damn bro....sorry to hear that...i hope she gets better asap!

Holly 01-01-2008 06:28 PM

I went through something similar at the beginning of December. I'm involved in a deal where I have several groups of girls that I work with. We were practicing and one of the 8 year olds was being whiny and basically dragging ass. I made her run laps and right in the middle, she sits down and busts out crying, which is not like her at all. When I asked her what was wrong she told me she didn't feel good and she had an "ant bite" on her arm that was hurting. It was on the top, dead center between her wrist and elbow. It looked exactly like a big pimple, but if you live in the South, then you know fire ant bites sort of look the same way, which I guess was why she thought that.

A few minutes later, one of the moms, who happens to be a nurse for an elementary school, shows up and I tell her about it. As soon as she looked at it she said- "that's staff." I called the girl's mom and she took her to the ER. We'd been practicing for 5 months for this thing that she absolutely didn't want to miss, so they hooked her up to an IV and ran one bag of antibiotics through her and then sent her home with a prescription.

Luckily, she responded really well but it was a nightmare for me, lol. I have tons of mats that we use, which had to be cleaned, and then cleaned, and then cleaned some more. Then we left for an out of town trip and she was with 50+ girls, all over each other and in and out of all the rooms and beds. We were all nervous wrecks.

I hope your wife feels better soon.

I hope she gets better. I'm going to do some research on this now as I really am unsure as to what these are exactly.
