Love his movie picks. If this was a Hollywood production it'd most likely end up a piece of politically correct crap like The Kingdom. At least if Mel makes it we can be sure it's going to be a pro-European movie.

Cause he focuses on doing one thing and one thing well. Unlike others who want to dabble in some producing, a mix of directing/acting, and a couple Japanese enema commercials for some extra spending money.

Definitely. Even with movies like Braveheart and the Patriot when he portrayed the English very poorly in both, I am still glad he didn't hold back and make some rubbish piece like The Kingdom that pandered to modern day 'sensibilities'. Here are the instructions issued to Vienna by the invading armies just before the battle. It should be interesting to see how the movie plays out. I am guessing he won't hold back and will go to try a little controversy (like the Jewish with Passion) to help promote the movie.

Braveheart is one of my favorite movies, Apocalypto was better than average, and Passion of the Christ was mediocre (mainly because it focused on the small part of Jesus' life before execution and nothing else). I could see this new project doing well.

I'd watch it.
