I'd say more like 2020 for the first real sex bots....maybe 2050 for the very first completely artificially intelligent (total human looking/response) bots.

However, he's not taking into account HUMAN altered neural networking, & the possibilites of simply using our brain to accomplish such tasks (even in "so called" real life). It's as simple as altering the data fed to our see/touch/feel.

I think "Jacking-In" will come before & replace the need for such companions.

Artificial Intelligence is one of my hobbies (ever since seeing Terminator 2) & this guy quoted is totally backwards.

I don't think robots will be the sex thing but instead virtual reality games. I'm not talking about computer games as such but ,more like mind/brain stimulation whereby you believe you are actually somewhere or with someone of your choice. Sex with robots will probably most common thing. But marrying them is another story. Who would want a "robotic" relationship.

I think the whole body replacment thing is a little flawed.. Even if you could create a copy of the entire contents of your brain and upload it to a machine the originals consciousness wouldnt be transferred and therefore to that subject personally its life/existance would still end. Which brings me onto Star Trek, who in the hell would use a transporter? The whole thing is based on the idea that your body is disintegrated and then using the info stored on computer it is recreated. Its not a teleporter, the originals users consciousness/life would cease to exist, and a new one with identical memories would be created to live until the next time it uses a transporter. The end result for the original user is the same... death.

The brain is your consciousness. If you basically make a duplicate copy of your brain and possibly even your DNA makeup and have the machine act as the host to it then there's no difference...

I bet you by 2050 you'll be able to simply download yourself into a virtual world computer and just live like that until someone pulls the plug.

Either way you can definitely be sure in 2050 there will be some crazy virtual reality sex software.
