Legal question for making a amateur movie (non adult)

Ok so I want to make some independent short flick but had a question about paying and getting releases for all the extras. If the scene is shot in a public place, is it still necessary to get a release for anyone appearing in the background? Also, does anyone know where I can find a release template for people to sign?

if you google that question, there are a ton of nonadult film forums with that info.

No one in your background should be recognizable; it should be somewhat blurry.

You will need to post signs indicating that filming is taking place. Take pictures of the signs and the locations of the signs. Anyone entering the frame must walk past your sign and by doing so agree to be a part of your film.

Dont forget to get permits as well.

And you might need a location release.

Try not to focus the shot on the extras as well.

With a permit you will be restricted as to what kind of impact you may have in regards to the flow of traffic and usually you will have to pay for off-duty cops to patrol the area for just that reason.

If you need to stop all traffic, its going to cost you big $$$ and it will be done at a time when public use is at a minimum.
