Why doesn't my site load gradually on IE?

For some reason when I go to www.playedonline.com with IE I see the light blue background and then nothing for 2-3 seconds while all the images load then they all show up at the same time.

With firefox it loads everything gradually.

Any idea how I can change IE's bahavior?

I think the more likely issue is that you have modified settings on FF that are not available on MSIE.

Nope, default firefox install.

Also, on IE most sites load gradually except mine :(

Tables cause that behavior in ie. IE waits for the embedded tables to load before displaying the main table

Because IE is a piece of shit, get opera or firefox you idiot.

Please. Get off your high horse. FF 2 loads everything fucking slow as hell compared to IE. The FF 3 beta does load things much faster. lt's hope the final version does as well. I may actually use it then.

For the record using IE everything load at the same fucking time. No delay of anything, it was all isntant. Maybe it's your connection.

Like GatorB suggested, it's probably your connection.

I'm on IE6 & it loaded instantly all at same time

By the way, you doing link trades? 348-132-803

Loads great with IE7..

SmokeyTheBear 12-28-2007 09:53 PM

google analytics can also do that sometimes, but if its every time i would say its your connection..

for me it loads blue background then page after about .3 seconds

Scroto 12-28-2007 09:59 PM

was pretty much instant in both ie7 and FF

I stopped using IE when I bought a vista machine. I used IE for 8 years until about 2 months ago

ie completely sucks ass on this machine

I only use it now to view design work in multiple browsers

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies.

For those that said it loads instantly for them - they are probably close to the server (New York) which is why they don't notice any delay. But for anyone on the west coast or outside the US there is a 2-3 second delay from when the blue background loads and the rest of the page.

For those that said IE sucks. This thread isn't about "what browser should I use?". It's about fixing a problem with my site that affects 85% of my visitors who happen to use IE.

I don't do link exchanges nor do I sell links, sorry.

As for the table/analytics thing - I'll try to remove them and see if it works. Thank you.

I'm about 1000 miles from New York. That shouldn't matter anyways. Even if I was in NY and you were in LA the time delay wouldn't anything since light travels at 186,282 miles PER SECOND. In 3 seconds data can travel twice the distance from Earth to the moon. If there's a delay either your connection is slow or your pings are high. Either way its your connection.
