St-Pierre VS Matt Hugues
What do you guys think about this fight ?
St-Pierre is a better striker, no quesitons asked... but wrestling wise, Hugues said he wanted to go back to his roots. My personal opinion is that they are not in the same category as far as wrestlers anymore. St-Pierre is by far the better wrester. Since his loss to Hughes, St-Pierre has fought against Dave Strasser, Jason Miller, Trigg, Sherk, Penn, Hughes, Matt Serra, and Josh Koscheck. Against the four strongest pure wrestlers ? Trigg, Sherk, Hughes, and Koscheck ? St-Pierre landed all eight takedown attempts and stuffed nine of 10 attempts against him (Koscheck landed the lone takedown). In total, St-Pierre has landed 17 of 19 takedown attempts (89%) and defended 14 of 17 attempts (82%) since his loss to Hughes three years ago. Put another way, St-Pierre has spent less than one minute on his back in the last three years. Hugues better have a Plan B... because St-Pierre was training for the olympics wrestling tryouts when he got asked to fight, he's in phenomenal shape ! |
St pierre is gonna own hughes high school bully ass. But I have to admit that Hughes has the best ring stare down in the game.
|
Hughes always seems to lose when he's a big betting favorite only to come back victorious when he's the underdog. It's a pretty clear pattern.
I'm not saying there's anything fishy, but if Hughes comes back and dominates you'll have to stop and go "hmmmm". |
i think they both want it hard, but i gotta root for homeboy
|
|
i so want gsp to win so he can avenge the loss to matt sera
i was actually hoping that sera would win against hughes in the original scheduled fight (even though i did not expect it to happen) |
St-Pierre rocks :thumbsup

I definately hope that GSP knocks him out again!!!!!
|
Georges by demolition slash humilation round 1 or 2.
|
I 100% agree with all you said Dre.
As for best stare down... I gotta go with Wanderlei Silva for that. I can't believe guys don't straight brick in their pants when he does his stare down. |
on paper GSP should win and win easily but Hughes has hillbilly strength which is always dangerous
|
st pierre all the way
|
id love for gsp to win, but we'll see if the short preparation time has an effect on him
|
GSP will win by KO

P.S. I'm calling Wand by submittion tomorrow :)
|
If hughes loses this fight he will announce retirement.
You heard it here first :) DH P.S. I think Hughes is going to win, in the ultimate fighter show he mentioned he had maybe 3-4 more fights left in him and he didn't train hard enough for his last fights as he had in the past. I think he's going to give it his all on this fight but if he loses don't be suprised if he retires :) |
That tonight?

He most likely need to hit the ground to do that, and that won't happen unless Chuck is getting KTFO. I don't expect to see a flying armbar :1orglaugh I know wand is good on the ground, but I think his BB is honorary more than anything else. |

What I figure could happen is : Chucks learn from Randy couture, and shoots for takedowns on chuck, surprises him (Chuck definitly didn't train for TD def in the last couple months) Wand knocks chuck out cold Wand gets rocked as usual, and as chuck goes for the kill, wand subs chuck from his back Chuck knocks wand out. |
I meant wand learns from couture sorry
|
I want Silva to win badly, but I'm afraid he'll swing wildly and walk straight into one of those looping counterpunches for a quick TKO.
I think GSP is going to take it, but at 2.90 I might play a bit on Hughes :) Oh and Sokoudjou/Machida should be interesting too! |
This is definitely a good card, looking forward to it!
|
gsp over hughes
silva over liddel machida over sokoudjou |
I can't wait for this PPV. Have some friends coming over too. Will be a good a time
