How many people do you feel you can trust in this industry?

How many people do you do business with that you feel you can trust?
Just a few close friends? Most people? Nobody?

Do you think the anonymity of the internet makes people less honest?

If you found a wallet stuffed with cash at a webmaster convention and you knew you wouldn't be caught would you return it without the cash and pretend that's how you found it? Would you return it with the cash? Do you feel a need to do the right thing just because it IS the right thing?

How can this industry build more honest relationships and reward people for demonstrating honesty and integrity more than it is now?

Just a few thoughts/questions for the New Years.

munki 12-27-2007 06:14 PM

Despite a few run ins here and there, I've found adult to be one of the most honest industries I've been involved with.

madfuck 12-27-2007 06:16 PM

Not Very Many, Bout 1 Or 2

Phoenix 12-27-2007 06:18 PM

FakeNick 12-27-2007 06:18 PM

DamageX 12-27-2007 06:18 PM

Trust no one.

FrozenJag 12-27-2007 06:18 PM

A few. I only trust myself 100% though.

I would return the wallet and money right away. With extra attention to making sure the money STAYED in the wallet while the owner of it was found.

Nicky 12-27-2007 06:21 PM

A few I'd say, oh and I would return the wallet with the cash....

JayDeeZee 12-27-2007 06:21 PM

What a deep question!

I wonder who's name will come up?

seeric 12-27-2007 06:22 PM

500 bucks and a trip to best buy makes you a webmaster.

this industry is filled with the dregs of society.

there are maybe 10 people in this entire business that i trust and consider true friends.

Big_D 12-27-2007 06:26 PM

you know what, every person i called from fucking romania on my prepaid cell on christmas to wish them the happiest of holidays (wiseman you should have fucking answered) are people who i believe i can trust. With that being said, yeah its a lot

Rochard 12-27-2007 06:29 PM

16 people.

They are a list on my wall in a thread.

I can tell you one of them is LAJ.

I think the people who are honest get rewarded from their reputation.

Actually, I don't see the adult industry as having more or less untrustworthy types than any other industry. Scammers, crooks and people after a quick buck or out only for themselves exist everywhere on every street :2 cents:

That said, I prefer to only have a few close friends and people I'd trust than 100s of "friends" (note the quotes ;p)

HeadPimp 12-27-2007 07:32 PM

I trust a very few people. However I always treat business as business, which means I only believe what I see in writing, signed and with a deposit on. And then I am still cautious.

AK 12-27-2007 07:37 PM

i trust a few .. one of whom

is not this guy:

You can always trust D$.

And I would trust JoeS.

Other then that, only a handful of others I would trust.

Validus 12-27-2007 07:48 PM

Trust no one! Greed is powerful!

AK 12-27-2007 07:49 PM

i would not trust studiocritic - you can search his name and see what shows.

uno 12-27-2007 08:09 PM

I trust maybe about a dozen people in adult.

FYI I've actually returned wallets and dropped chips at the casinos in Vegas during shows.

D-man 12-27-2007 08:12 PM

In God I trust all others pay cash!

J$tyle$ 12-27-2007 08:16 PM

Trust, like respect - is earned.

This business is no different than any other in terms of that.

There are only a handful of people in life I fully trust.

With others there are degrees of trust.

:2 cents:

woj 12-27-2007 09:56 PM

I can count them on one hand...

JoeS 12-28-2007 11:11 AM

Some very thoughtful posts here!

Thanks D$

I think in general one can trust others to do what they believe is in their own best interest as thats human nature. I also agree that trust is something that's earned by one through examples of acts of integrity and honesty.

I do think that the anonymity of the internet makes it easier for people to relax their standards as to how they treat others. If you had to come into the office each day and face the people you deal with you would behave very differently I think. Thats the one good thing I see about going to tradeshows. You get to put a face to the icq number /nickname and see that you're dealing with people in many cases just like yourself. Although some people who act like jerks online do so at shows also.

In general I say trust everyone in small steps and get references.

Have a great day everyone!

Very well said. I also wish from the start of the net everyone got a ip that was their digital fingerprint ,assigned to their real name and that was the only way they could get online. That alone would cut 50% of the bullshit.

czarina 12-28-2007 11:17 AM

there's a few... Nice people, acquaintances, some of them on their way to being called "friends".

kissing ass is not a reason to trust someone

just helps you get what you want
