my friend has been trying to get a domain name of his company for ever now. I captured it without letting him know i was doing this. The guy has money to spend and I know what he has said he would buy the domain for in the past.

Would it be bad on a friendship level for me to want him to PAY for the domain?

He could get pissy and go to icann and dispute the domain but i think if he knew could do that he would of done it already?

on a scale of 1-10 on mine and this guys friendship id say a 4?

tell him you found out who owns it and the git wants $10,000 for it. Then you organise the transfer and get rich and never see him again

so if you find a car that a friend has been looking for forever you would just spend your time trying to get it and then just give it to him once you paid for it??

charge him $100 make a small profit for your time and call it a day.

he does not have the knowledge to get the domain on his own from drops

A few things to consider here

1. What is the domain worth on the open market
2. Do you need the money
3. What would you rate your best friends on a scale of 1-10

If you spent your time on capturing it then yeah you could ask him for whatever time you invested in capturing it.

why would you spend time looking for a car, then buy a car that you didn't want to own?

The domain on open market id say atleast 3-5k as it is a pretty well known record label

Park it and see what traffic and revenue the domain brings in then offer it to him at $1500 or two years income which ever is more.
If you rated him a 6 or above on the friend scale I would suggest a different answer.
