I'd really be surprised if this story gets covered in either one and if so - how it gets covered..

JFK 12-23-2007 09:24 AM

before reporting something like this, I'm sure they have to check with a whole bunch of Lawyers, so as not to leave themselfes open to a law suit:2 cents:

WOW! now we are all impressed that you are involved. The world is saved.

TO JOHNTMM. When the lawyers get involved make sure that you drag EVERY affiliates name into court AND point out all the bad shit they promote so they are all dragged into court for pushing porn in Illegal states. They should all be jailed if they do NOT live in california.

Do you realize what could happen if shit like this gets picked up by news channels? It starts with AVN/XBIZ but watch when a major mainstream channel like FOX or CNN picks it up.
And we all know how much they like this industry, they make it sound like a major creditcard scheme was going on or whatever. Trust me it will hurt everyones signs ups.

Bullshit. First amendment protection is VERY strong for news media. It is very hard to sue a newspaper for libel. You have to not only prove that that libel was committed but also that the publication knew or should have known that the story they ran with was false.

They are not publishing it because its not politically correct or popular to do so. AVN and XBIZ are both publications with a strong bias for not only the prevailing opinion in the adult industry but they also love to write newsvertisements about people they like.

Bullshit, according to you! As I am sure, you have very deep pockets to protect you from a frivolous law suit. By the time someting winds tru the system, it could bankrupt you in legals, so you were found innocent, so what? At what cost ?:2 cents:

tony286 12-23-2007 12:02 PM

You cant be unbiased when the people you are reporting on buy ads from you. Thats why you rarely if ever see people called on the carpet in those two industry publications.

AVN will cover this story, our Senior Editor working on it now. Its a complicated story and we intend to cover it fairly and unbiased - being a holiday weekend we will need to contact all the parties involved. We wont just throw up a story to be 1st - we have to contact parties involved and make sure the facts are straight.

I cant speak for XBIZ, but I am sure they as well as us will cover it as it is an important issue that effects the industry.

What exactly do you expect the story to say? As of right now, no one knows any real details..

This is PollyWolly Dinglehoffer reporting live from AAAAVeeIn...

It has recently been reported that an unknown person from an unknown location has breached the admin section from an unknown number of webmaster programs using the NATS affiliate software.

It's not clear what information was taken nor is it known if the unknown perpetrator from the unknown location has used any personal webmaster information. Since we have no clue if any personal webmaster information was used, we don't know which webmaster was affected or in what way.

Stay tuned to this story as we bring you further details giving you the information as it unfolds. For now, this is PollyWolly Dinglehoffer reporting live from AAAAVeeIn...

The trouble with town criers is that they get 1 sliver of information and then start using words like "might", "could", "perhaps", "should", "would". You won't hear them use the words "is" or "does" very often when they shout from the roof-tops.

Yeah, it sucks that it happened, but the person who did it will most likely be caught. Keep in mind that they didn't "hack" the program, they knew the user name and password that NATS admins used for themselves - either from setting up NATS on their own servers, or a friend of someone who set up NATS on their server.

Since this was a breach and not a hack, it would seem reasonable that the person wasn't specifically after webmaster personal data such as social security numbers but rather the email addresses.

Once they start using them, and with the help of law enforcement, it's not hard to trace it back to the person/persons involved.

So, run off and change your epass (and similar) passwords. You're an idiot to repetitively use the same passwords over and over to begin with and the nuisance is your punishment. Keep an eye out for shared passwords for your members section and you'll most likely find that this is the worst you'll suffer from all this.

notoldschool 12-23-2007 02:08 PM

I doubt it. Most program owners do not read them there paid for stories.

PS. before you ask why i post here then.

I post for sport. Its a great board to pass the time without getting much accomplished.

Thats why the countersuit was created. And several states now have a vexatious litigator act which can be used to put the hurt on someone who maintains baseless suits in the courts for the sheer pleasure of making people squirm.
