What's wrong with welfare
 

Regardless of the conditions, many former public housing residents avoid privately owned apartments because they typically face utility and deposit expenses not charged in public housing.

Sharon Jasper, a former St. Bernard complex resident presented by activists Tuesday as a victim of changing public housing policies, took a moment before the start of the City Hall protest to complain about her subsidized private apartment, which she called a "slum." A HANO voucher covers her rent on a unit in an old Faubourg St. John home, but she said she faced several hundred dollars in deposit charges and now faces a steep utility bill.

"I'm tired of the slum landlords, and I'm tired of the slum houses," she said.

Pointing across the street to an encampment of homeless people at Duncan Plaza, Jasper said, "I might do better out here with one of these tents."

A pic of her SLUM house. It must suck to have the pay the utility bill on that 60 in widescreen tv. It's just not fair. How can welfare people afford 60 inch TVs if they required to pay the electric bill?

Over 30 years ago my father went with the church to deliver turkeys to poor people for Thanksgiving. When he came back he looked depressed. I asked him what was wrong and he said "all the poor people have better televisions than us". :(

The problem with welfare is that it exists. There was a time then it was necessary (ie the great depression) now the stupid and the lazy just live off of it. In my experience very few people that truly need it receive it and the ones that do get so little from it that it is pitiful. There is a lyric in a song that goes something along the lines 'take from the rich to give to the poor tilll there are no rich no more' and that is exactly what is happening.

The fact is that humans are lazy regardless of race (culture is a differnt issue) and if you hand them out a living, they won't strive to make one of their own.

I've lived near this kinda crap my whole life. Drive by the projects and they have NMW's parked in the lot. Never gonna change either.

Lucky for her she's black so she can just call those that would question her entitlement "racist".

I delivered a turkey to a family in the hood that had more presents than I've ever seen in my life collected in one house...There was no where to sit anywhere in the living room because every open space was covered with a wrapped gift...They lived UP THE STREET from the church but I had to bring it to them...

Then some poor white trash drove their ass all the way from I don't know where in the fuck in their raggedy car to get their own turkey...And I could tell that they were actually poor...

The next fool I deliver a turkey too who has a house full of gifts, I'm going to clown the shit out of him and take the turkey back with me...fuck that...
