So, my wife bought me a new computer from Dell for Xmas (Question?)
I know, it's not Xmas YET but it arrived yesterday and she wasn't here - so, early gift for me
LOL Every time I went to Dell in the past few months I loaded up on upgrade after upgrade and extra on top of extra and then I'd get to the confirmation page and I'd be at $2.5K - 3 grand and think to myself, "Fuck! I don't NEED at that much of a computer!" Then I'd close the browser and start looking at Macs and do the same damn thing! Then I'd complain to my wife that I needed a new computer but couldn't find anything I REALLY wanted! :1orglaugh So, this is what she got me Vostro 200 Mini Tower
... and I know she got it for considerably less than what I was going to spend! She's good like that :thumbsup:thumbsup Anyway, on to the question: So, it came with a 20 inch widescreen, and its a great monitor - but I don't like how everything is stretched. Are there some settings I can fiddle with to eliminate the stretch or should I just hook up my LG Flatron and put this monitor with my old computer that has now become my backup? Thanks in advance! |

I just got a new credit card too and wanted to join porn sites! Am I in the right place? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh |
I have a 20" Widescreen from Dell that I got last year and I love it. If you don't like the stretch thing, you can right click on your desktop and then to settings and adjust the settings there to whatever you like.
I have been using exclusively Dell for about 5 years and I couldn't ask for a better system.... It took me a little while on this widescreen, but I got used to it after awhile and now I love it. The other monitors in the house look funny to me now. lol |
What if she bought it for her boyfriend?

congrats on a cool gift.

1680 x 1050 did the trick but DAMN everything looked so small! I just went into Advanced Properties and increased the DPI so everything is 125% bigger LOL Now, I have to find a cool stand to boost it up a little. I'm so used to the higher profile of the LG monitor that it seems like I'm looking down towards this one just a bit - and it's buggin' my neck! Either way, the computer is blazing - just have to transfer over files and favorites and emails and shit - and I'll be all set!!! Thanks :) |
Oh god, I went from a 15" OLD monitor to this 20" widescreen, and I thought I was going to have to go to a wireless kb and mouse and sit in the next room..... between the size difference and the brilliance in colors, it was damn near blinding.. lol
You have a nice wife, you best be a treatin her nice... if my husband got me a new Dell. well..... that's a story for another day. lmao |

You'll get used to it and love it after a while. I have a 24 inch dell at 1920x1200 and at first it takes some getting used to but in the end its fucking sweet. |
shit it back and get a mac

Try kicking back to a 1400x900 rez, or something closer... as long as you are at widescreen specs and not sd (1040x768, 800x600, etc.) specs it should look fine...
