Woman TASED at Best Buy

http://www.cfnews13.com/News/Local/2...html?refresh=1

I love cops! Sorry if its been posted before.

Quote:

Video has surfaced of a Daytona Beach police officer using a TASER on a woman in a store.

According to our partners at the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Elizabeth Beeland was shopping at a Best Buy in Daytona Beach last month.

Before she checked out, she got an upsetting phone call about her child and stepped outside to take the call.

According to the police report, the clerk said Beeland was suspicious and flagged down Daytona Beach police officer Claudia Wright, who was in the store.

When Officer Wright confronted Beeland, she yelled at her.

When they came back in the store, Wright repeatedly asked her to calm down and threatened to arrest and TASER her if she didn't.

As the video shows, Beeland continued to back away as the officer moved closer.

Beeland was then TASED and arrested.

Beeland is charged with disorderly conduct and resisting a police officer without violence.

Police department policy states an officer can deploy his or her TASER "for the purpose of subduing a violent, noncompliant or combative subject."

Beeland's attorney is now investigating what legal action to take against the police department and officer.

Is there extra commission if you taser your customers now if they refuse the extended warranty?

baddog 12-22-2007 06:10 PM

The problem being?

tony286 12-22-2007 06:12 PM

They are getting too taser happy it seems to me.Also if she had no best buy merchandise on her what fucking right do they have to ask her anything?

StickyGreen 12-22-2007 06:12 PM

Why do police officers need tasers when they have handcuffs? Every time I see a video of someone getting tasered it always has the same end result: They are on the ground getting handcuffed by like 4 or 5 cops. Do people really need to be tased to be handcuffed? What ever happened to grabbing their ass, throwing them down on the ground, and simply fucking cuffing them?

Looked like the perp was bigger than the cop, and backing away. Why should the rest of the store's customers be put at risk because some psycho bitch did not want to comply?

The problem is that they have relaxed their physical requirements so much in the last decade that a good portion of the officers out there aren't capable of physically restraining someone that is combative.

There are a couple female officers around here that are so short that if they were 1 inch shorter they would probably need to sit on a cushion to see over the steering wheel of the cruiser.

Did you guys see the dude on the news the other night who got Tased at the Vancouver airport and he died from it? The taser thing is getting way out of hand... we got along just fine for all these years without them...

At least:
1) This case was put on public.
2) This case will be investigated.
3) The legal action against that police officer will be taken.

:2 cents:

I hope so. I mean, it was just some blonde chick. I doubt she really even did anything wrong at all except for seeming "suspicious" to some idiot Best Buy employee. I guess that is grounds for getting all fucking electrocuted and shit these days... :Oh crap

MattO 12-22-2007 06:41 PM

I bet that Taser was the only electronic device working properly in that worthless store.

its called

less than lethal force

she could have just as easily been pepper sprayed, same level of force.

one would be wise that when the cops show up and ask you to calm down, to calm the fuck down.

this is not the country it used to be and they can and will taser your ass.

sad but true.

yah, like i said man, sad but true.

it is in that category though.

as are rubber bullets, water cannons, and a slew of other tools to immobilize an unruly person/persons.

i've had the training and until the laws change it, thats how it is.

in my opinion, she shoulda chilled out and obeyed the cop. its a terrible thing, but they are the authority and the citizen must obey them.

sad but true.

:(

I was wondering that too... why cops don't carry net guns or other superhero style weapons that would be 100x safer than a fucking taser.

I think the military uses net guns.

Bingo. They are using them as tools to force compliance where compliance is neither needed nor required by the law or anything else. Just because a cop tells you to do something does not mean you are obligated to do it.
