Not Suprising - Clinton Would Crack Down on Computer-Generated Cartoon Sex

Hillary Clinton is still outraged that Rockstar Games left a sexually-themed mini game nestled in its best-selling Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 2005.

You'll recall the kerfuffle when the deactivated love scene was found buried in the code for the otherwise wholesome car jacking, cop-killing shooter. The unfinished mini-game featured clothed characters simulating sex acts. To access the scene, randy teens had to download and install a special patch developed by a Dutch coder, expending more effort than it takes to find real, human adult content on the web.

That all led some cynics to suspect Clinton of grandstanding when she called a press conference to denounce Rockstar and demand a Federal Trade Commission investigation into San Andreas. The ESRB re-rated the game to AO for "adults only," raising the minimum age of purchase from 17 to 18 years old -- a crucial year in which a teen develops the necessary psychological defenses to resist the Siren song of polygon porn.

But in a response to a questionnaire from the watchdog group Common Sense Media, Clinton reveals today that she still sees the affair as a victory for child safety. She describe her introduction of the doomed Family Entertainment Protection Act as a response to the "illicit" sexual content in San Andreas, and says, as president, she'd support regulation of the gaming industry.

"When I am President, I will work to protect children from inappropriate video game content," she told CSM.

Thats not cracking down on computer generated sex, its a company putting sex scenes in a game kids could buy. Please note im not a Hilary fan but companies have to be responsible.

StuartD 12-22-2007 04:41 PM

Wait, cracking down on computer-generated cartoon sex.... and preventing explicit sex from appearing in a video game... are the same thing?

When did it become wrong to prevent under aged people from viewing porn? Cartoon or otherwise?

exactly... don't want to see any lines crossed in a game about stealing cars, killing people and shooting cops.

we really do have to think about the kids.

Really sick of politicians using legal businesses to pound their drum and further their agenda.

Clinton makes it sound like you can find cartoon sex anywhere

As far as I am concerned, this is more of an issue of parental responsibility, and the ESRB, raising kids shouldn't be the concern of the U.S. Govt.

Don't these idiots have more important things to tackle, such as the trillions of dollars of debt? God forbid someone see a poorly animated figure moving back and forth making some moaning sounds.

I guess Custer's Revenge is what fucked me up so badly as a child.

If parents would play video games with their kids, none of this would be an issue.

ya, gotta love the way they are.. Killing cops or regular people, stealing etc.. is all good.. As long as they don't see ANYTHING sexual. Pretty fucking stupid if you ask me.. Protect the children? Hmm lets see, what will kill a kid faster some psychotic killer or a nude pic/video? I guess according to the way that they see shit the nude pic/video will.

It's been like this forever. Sex = bad. Killing or any other violent act = Good.

If a kid wants to see something sexual they will find it no matter what you do.

Maybe I understand it wrong but that game has an M rating on it which means (I took this off the rating board website : "Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language."

So this is basically no different than a rated R movie. You get all kinds of sex scenes and nudity in R rated movies. She seems to be going out of her way to look like an idiot. She should yelled at the parents that let their kids play this game or the stores that ignore the rules and sell it to kids.

In the article it said they rerated the game for 17 and older after the shit started to come down. So I guess you didnt have to be 17 or older in the first place.

But thats the standards like it or not. I think personally parents should be more aware of what their child does but unfortunately thats not going to happen for the most part the kid is quiet they are happy.

Ya, they wanted it rated AO, adults only. It was previously rated M for mature. Supposedly M rated games are for 17 and over, AO games are for 18 and older. Although most stores will sell an M rated game to anyone.

Game companies don't want their games to get rated AO because it means most large chains like Walmart won't even carry it.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 12-22-2007 05:20 PM

you can fuck and then kill hookers in that game, right? yet it wasn't until AFTER they found the clothed sex scenes hidden in the code that they upped the rating? that makes no sense. what the hell kind of standards do these people follow where clothed sex warrants a more stringent rating than killing?

Ya, you could fuck a hooker in your car, then as she got out you could beat her to death with a baseball bat to get your money back.

But interactive sex scenes that show nothing are somehow worse.

Hillary? A feminist? HAHA. I think not, though she may claim to be. A true feminist (as in, not just waving the feminist flag as a cover up for bigotry or the inability to form your own opinions) president would see porn as a choice between consenting adults and leave it alone. Shillary is just doing what every candidate does... You pick some "causes" with some "headline power" (drugs, sex, women's rights and kids work well) and try to get enough people on your idiotic bandwagon.
