(VIDEO) ADULT INSIGHTS: Is There Room For More People In Adult?

Adult Insights Ep 3 Video

Have you thought that maybe there are too many people in adult to make a go of it? The term "over saturation" seems to be on the tongues of many so we asked for a few points of view on whether or not there was room for more people in the business. Today's answers are provided by Sagi from Adult Friend Finder, Monika Maple of MonikaMaple.com, Jim from Almighty Content, Dirty D from How I Got Rich and The Legacy, Mr Robert Warren, From Sex Date Cash.

"Is there room for more people in adult?"

Sagi: Definitely... there's plenty of expansion going on, especially overseas and in South America.
Monika: There are never enough models... sites want new girls all the time.
Jim: Always... the consumer wants more new content, especially from different niches.
Dirty D: Absolutely... the best is to invent your own niche.
The Legacy: There are a lot of people leaving the industry... and there's always room for those with integrity.

After that we look at how a handful of people wound up working in the business. Here are the stories of Paul from Adult Rental, Ken from The Best Porn, Monty from AVN and Ariel Rebel from PanchoDog.

Having said all that, is there room for more people in the industry?

I like the idea of creating a new niche. I had someone hit me up the other day trying to get us to add a clown niche to Rabbits. I had no idea clown porn was so popular! hehe

angeleyes 12-20-2007 10:21 AM

Impressive. Good Read Doug! :thumbsup

Dwreck 12-20-2007 10:35 AM

Doug,

First off I really like what you have done with videos. The editing, the brutal reality of it all and the questions you ask are honest. I enjoy watching them

Thanks for including me in episode 2.

Well, lets hope the answers are honest! If not, at least you'll get to see what someone looks like when they look you in the eye and lie ;)

i think this biz is oversaturated and it is ondergoing major changes right now

i wouldn't recommend entering this industry to anyone.. well unless someone is very tech oriented and has has some mainstream experience

other than that, i dont think there's any room left for the average guy from the street to enter the affiliate side of online porn biz

I just can't believe that the Internet has reached its fill of creative ways to sell adult. There's just too much out there that people want to see... and too many ways that people want to see it.

You don't think it's possible for the average tech guy to come in and work his butt off for a year and make enough cash to afford his rent with a little extra left over for beer money?

Domain Diva 12-20-2007 11:46 AM

I dont think this biz is oversaturated,Ive only been around 6 months and everythings going fine,I see lots of great opportunities for me to work on.

Of course as the market matures new ideas and concepts are needed but thats the same in any business. :)

It was fantastic meeting you, too, sir! Hopefully I can get that way sometime soon. Just be careful... i sometimes carry a cam and mic. You've been forewarned ;)

Thanks, my friend. I appreciate that. You are a flippin stand up guy and, as I've said before, adult is lucky to have you. I have plenty of your pearls of wisdom left to come!

Christina Muller 12-20-2007 12:55 PM

Great video Doug,very productive

How many episodes do you plan to do?

Doug of Montreal 12-20-2007 01:19 PM

Hey Christina - thanks! Six months to come, at least... or whenever everyone tells me they've had enough. Hopefully I'll be able to post a few more, though, before it comes to that!

Anna_O 12-20-2007 02:02 PM

Great stuff. I personally don't think this biz is oversaturated at all - if you find your niche and do what you are good at. Harder to make money than 5 years ago? Yes. Impossible? No way.

Laurel 12-20-2007 02:28 PM

Nice job on the video, Doug!

Chichio 12-20-2007 02:54 PM

Awesome! I love this format. I would much rather have video magazine about our industry than the other formats. Nice wave of the future.

As for the question about over saturation, this is a question that has been asked since 1996. A response I remember from back then is "there is no end to wankers." I think that sums it up.

hehe - thanks, Chichio, for putting it all into perspective ;) By the way, I think we're missing a site of yours on Rabbits. You should submit it!

Ashleysteel 12-20-2007 03:26 PM

Very nice Doug... are you gonna be at internext in Jan?

I think I may just cover that on the next one... which, incidentally, should be out on Monday next week. ;)

Missy 12-20-2007 06:47 PM

Interesting, indeed.
I have wondered the same thing myself. I have to agree with The Legacy though... even though there are more and more people jumping on the bandwagon every week, those without integrity and ambition tend to die off, for the most part anyway. There is always room for more people with those qualities!

D Ghost 12-20-2007 06:49 PM

The question is, once we get them, once they make the attempt, how to hold on to them till they get past the hardships of the initial stages. But I so agree, Missy. Robert has it spot on ;)

Thanks Deej! And thanks for the hookup with WPC!

Sebastian Sands 12-20-2007 08:18 PM

great video, and there is room. And I do believe the answer is in the niche. Pick a niche, and focus..

So far I am very happy with what we have done in the last 6 months. We ranked # 2 in our niche on rabbits (willing to bet that we can make it #1 in the re-review in 6 months). In a short time with a lot of work. I believe there are many niches out there that can be penetrated this way.

Great video, can't wait to see the rest of the questions Doug!

Sebastian

tony286 12-20-2007 08:37 PM

Great video but I think it reaching the ceiling if it hadnt, you wouldnt have people so desperate for traffic that they turn to zango or bt sites that weaken the very industry they are in.
When the car business started there were over 200 car companies in America, now there are 3.

JohnnyJames 12-20-2007 09:17 PM

Love this series. Very nice work.

Farang 12-20-2007 10:57 PM

great video, as always :thumbsup
