Epassporte hacked, any epass ppl around?

So, I woke up this morning only to see that someone changed my epassporte password and setup a security question/answer and then changed my epass email address as well.

I wonder, how can all of this be done without epassporte even sending me a simple confirmation link to my email address so I could approve (or not) the changes to my account. I'm 100% sure that I don't have any keyloggers, my password is very complex so I have absolutely no clue how the person hacked into it.

Already sent emails to cs, but I'm afraid by the time they read it it will be too late.

:helpme

Thanks Micheal, just got your email. I'm on the phone with them right now.

Epassporte should really think about sending email confirmation links prior to applying account changes.

killerkay 12-20-2007 03:34 AM

hasn't your mother taught you NEVER use epass

(Gk) 12-20-2007 03:45 AM

Account is now blocked and a dispute is set for the funds. All I can do now is wait, I guess.

Enemator 12-20-2007 03:50 AM

You have a very complex password you say and you also claim you don't have any keyloggers.

Ever considered you might have keyloggers, trojans, spyware that your scanner doesn't pick on?

Monique Niccole 12-20-2007 04:02 AM

Why would you post here before you even called them?

I know epass has had their problems, but every time I've even suspected there was an issue with my epass account or card, I pick up the phone first, not run to GFY or send an email. CS has always been able to handle my issue over the phone and stop anything weird before it got out of hand.

I wasn't asked whether or not I wished to confirm the changes to the account.

Yes, but not likely to be the cause.

#1... Take money out as soon as possible.
#2... Yeah.. not having an email confirmation on the password is the lamest security problem they currently have.

And good fucking luck getting your money back...

Enemator 12-20-2007 05:14 AM

@(Gk): not likely why exactly? Because you have the latest top-notch security software?

Last time I checked security software was always one step behind the scum.

No, they don't. They just e-mail you that a change has ALREADY been made.

Matt 26z 12-20-2007 05:39 AM

The first thing you need to do is scan your system with all the major online virus canners. Kaspersky, BitDefender, Ewido, CA, etc...

http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ine+virus+scan

Also download and run SuperAntiSpyware.com with the most in-depth scan settings.

Until then I wouldn't try to access anything sensitive until you are certain that someone isn't spying, and the chances of that being the case are extremely high right now.

Threads like these are why i've never sign up for epass... this is like a bloody daily occurance...

ShaveBucks 12-20-2007 10:10 AM

Those new security features are working brilliantly :1orglaugh

What's said is that now that your account is blocked, anyone who's done biz with you likely has their accounts blocked now too and they'll be making threads any minute asking why they can't access their funds.

He didnt have it setuped at all.

WarChild 12-20-2007 11:31 AM

Guys, use your heads. Please just try it one time.

Look at the two scenarios and tell me which is _most likely_ the case:

1) Epassporte servers have been hacked. Fortunately, the hackers have only cleaned out this one account that we know of. Most users have not been cleaned out, or if they have, are being uncharacteristically quiet about it.

2) The posters computer has been compromised, email account hacked or password was otherwise compromised. This explains why it's one account, not everyone's.

Think guys, I know you can.
