Can you live off of referrals alone?
 

I have one sponsor that I don't promote all that much anymore but I make a tidy sum on my referrals each month. Made me wonder if it's possible to reach a stage where all or most of your income came from commission on referrals and not work you did yourself.

That's the theory behind those multi-level marketing programs, right? But could it work in adult?

And sponsors, do you have feelings about paying out referral commissions to webmasters who aren't actively promoting your program anymore?

I'm about halfway there now after 4 years... it is possible.. but it takes alot of work and dedication....

In order to really make a decent amount bank off refferals it takes work just like anything else, and I know for our programs, we have no problem with people just sending refferals... :pimp

paying an "non" active webmaster is fine, only means the person they reffered is making some money for all involved :)

Saw a couple of affiliates making some big bickies with clickcash a few years ago... unfortunately they were 2 levels down, not one! I still made $50 a week, and the girl that referred directly them got $500

We have one person that has been getting referral checks for a few years now I guess. She wouldn't be able to survive on them, but I know they come in handy and I don't mind sending them out.

We have others that make referral money, but no one has been getting them as long or as frequently as her.

yupe with us too, we have no problem paying affiliate sending referrals.

in addition we pay 1% to your tier 3 webmasters.
i believe we are one of few who offer 3 level of commission.

I've heard that some programs will can you if you aren't actively promoting them and just sucking referral money. Can't say exactly who, but I've heard they're out there.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with it. Referral money means that someone is sending the program joins at least, and without those referrals there wouldn't even be that revenue stream. Let 'em be I say.

We have no issues paying affiliates who just send referrals to our program.. and pay a dollar to each sale their referrals generated :)

The way daddyhalbucks gets his referrals is scum and i would punch him in the head if i ever met him.

we have a few guys that just make money on referrals, not enough to survive but cool pocket cash

You can make some nice money off referrals but you should not depend on that money. It happens so many times that you get cut off for one reason or another, e.g. the referrals are gone once programs change their stats system or make other 'upgrades'.

It's a nice extra though :)

IMO passive income is the best thing that can happen to you and its definitely worth trying

having said that, I dont really have any referral income nowadays, well, some small one with one program, but it's smaller than my GFY sig income, so nothing to write home about

its also kinda funny cause people who try to get webmaster referrals are usually looked down at, while in reality they are just being smart

I just lost the time to keep on top of it and I knew that Rabbit's crew could do more with it than I ever could. A site like that needs constant attention.

What makes you think that Will's site is successful? I'm sure it's not a flop by any means, but it takes time to build up much of an income at 5% = 10% a pop.

If I'm not mistaken, he once revelead some numbers on how much it earned in the first months.

Assuming he was not BS'ing, it looked good.

For those of you who are wondering, yes you can make good money from referrals.

I've made over 200K just in clickcash referrals over the last couple years. But what I was doing was different. I was actually helping people and providing a free service to them that helped them make more money. When i stopped having time to help new people I stopped promoting the site.

ClickCash was a good fit for me, I had been promoting them for years and was very familar with their product. Also since they didn't offer a lot of tools to webmasters I could not only offer this to them but offer them the things that I have test and know that work the best.

If you want to just throw a link out to a sponsor in every thread where they ask for "asian sites" etc... I can't imagine you would make a lot of money. Or at least what I consider a lot of money to be.

if i was the type to want people to suck my eCock and you saw me saying stuff like I fly first class and showing pictures of my expensive cars and shit, then yeah I would think i was bs'ing too. But i hope most people know from posting i am not like that and I can give a shit what people think, so you can take what I am saying to be the truth. I have no reason to lie and don't recall anyone ever saying i have cheated them or lied about something etc.

Definitely. We have several affiliates in Leading Edge Cash and WorldNiche making a lot of of just their referrals.
