Sounds like the Icelanders will be the big winners when peak oil and global warming hit.

why wouldn't you love to live there? you live in nebraska.

It's extremely cold, boring, and expensive country, the capital looks like a village.
The big Alcoa aluminum plant in the north is not really eco-friendly.

Just to say that there is no 'perfect place'. I'd prefer the US or an island over Siberia, Northern Canada, Scandinavia, Greenland, Iceland.

Move to Siberia if you have the soul of a wildcatter.

Population: 301,931 (July 2007 est.)

That's insignificant. If everyone in any one of our states farted we could power iceland with natural gas for months.. LOL

And none of those 300k people drive big gas-guzzling trucks/4x4s as the people in a stupid big country full of obese people.

lol I know, I agree

My point though is with that small of a population it is extraordinarily easy to power everything alternatively.

This was based on a non-scientific poll of both the people who currently live there.

Costa Rica is 100% hydro. Suck it.

Minte 12-16-2007 08:07 PM

That would be the upside of living on an active volcano.

Why? There are vast tract of unused land in middle America with very high lumens year all year round... The whole US could be solar powered with enough investment.

I believe the poster also brought up GLOBAL WARMING. I assume when it hits hard Iceland would become MUCH warmer. So will Canada.

Iron Fist 12-16-2007 08:20 PM

Its a good start and good to hear....

Basic_man 12-16-2007 08:43 PM

Just look on Wikipedia for Iceland.. the high temperature is like 13C, and the lowest is like -5C ... averaging at 7C high and 2C low .. that's a very boring and cold weather!! :(

Why doesn't the US take care of two problems at once? Wanna be a citizen? Three years on a tredmill, 8 hours a day. If you live, you keep the job and get a green card. None of those damn language lessons or competency tests - you wanna live like a mule, you can work like one.
