Going through some of our domain names, and this one seems particularly good, but I'm not sure if I want to develop anything on it. How much do you think it's worth?

Probably worth a pretty penny to the right buyer.

celebrity gossip sites do very good these days. But there's more than way too many of them out there. It'd be a bitch to get going. Good luck with it whichever way you decide to go :)

You would think that it would be worth more than a domain like perezhilton.com but....
well, I guess it all depends on what ya do with it.

a domain like that, just the domain name itself could likely sell for a very large amount of cash I would think!!

Seeing as my gf is pretty up on the sites that are out there that deal with this kind of thing, I don't think it is worth much undeveloped.

The reason is that in that niche market, they trade traffic back and forth a lot through links. And therefore branding on the actual site is not as important as the staff or person who is writing for the site. If you look at the searches and traffic numbers for a perez hilton for example you will see that he has the most popular celeb blog out there. that is because he is a personality and gets press everywhere he can. Other sites like dlisted get a big fan base because of the manner in which the writer makes fun of celebs in a witty and entertaining way.

So, the name is not all that important in this market in my opinion. I could be wrong, but I think you find that undeveloped, this domain is not worth a whole lot when most people already have their favorite sources of info.
