Are there any black people who don't support Obama?

Or is really the whole fucking black part of the nation gonna vote on him because he is black?

Grapesoda 12-14-2007 09:17 AM

Quoted for truth.

They stick together like no other race.

I was talking to the black guy I used to buy software from. He was speaking English, until another black dude, showed up, the he started speaking nig ger, so I found a new vendor.

read this on a blog the other day:

I keep seeing in the news where people are questioning if Barak Obama is black enough for the White House. What kind of stupid ignorant ass shit is that? The man is black! Is he supposed to act a certain way because he is black? Is he supposed to think a certain way because he is black? When are people going to wake up and realize that you have no control over your race. skin color, or where you were born? What does he need to do in order to be more black?

?Rev Jesse Jackson accused Mr Obama of ?acting like he?s white? in his response to a civil-rights controversy in the southern state of Louisiana.?

Is it considered ?acting white? when you don?t play the race card every 5 seconds?

Wizzo 12-14-2007 09:28 AM

Currently many of the black leaders don't support him because they make their bank off the oppressed black people ideals, how can blacks be oppressed if the president is black? :pimp

Good observation. :2 cents:

Of course there are.

Franck, I know you like to troll, but if you aren't aware of black republicans, or the class of blacks who look down upon liberalism - then you may want to read up before associating "all blacks" in one category.

I love reading black republican articles and politics.

Shelby Steele will change how you view race in america.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelby_Steele

Quote:

Steele believes that the use of victimization is the greatest hindrance for black Americans. In his view, white Americans see blacks as victims to ease their guilty conscience, while blacks attempt to turn their status as victims into a kind of currency with no purchasing power. Therefore, he claims, blacks must stop "buying into this zero-sum game" by adopting a "culture of excellence and achievement" without relying on "set-asides and entitlements."

I merely suggested in a thread yesterday that Oprah's backing of Obama was a little convenient and got jumped all over for it, was called "ignorant" "stupid" (thank you Sweetcuties) was compared to a rapist and was all but called a racist (kudos pussyserver).

Obama may very well be worth voting for, he certainly comes off as intelligent and personable, seems to not favor the black agenda on most issues.... but his cause isn't being furthered by his rabid supporters who can't find a way to get their message across without the insults and accusations of racism at every drop of a hat.

Fact is a lot of blacks ARE supporting him largely based on him being black. My whole point in commenting on the Oprah thing was that it would be nice if she backed him because he is the best person for the job, and it certainly would have gone a long way if she had of backed other candidates in previous elections (no matter what their race or color) as vehemently as she is doing for Obama.

Hell, if I could vote in the US I might have even voted for him under certain circumstances... but not because of the color of his skin.

Cheers.

I dont care what color is a person is i would vote for. Dont change the topic around. This thread is about black people voting for Obama because he is black.

Skillz Unlimited 12-14-2007 10:55 AM

There have been black people who have tried to run in the past and Oprah did not support. She is supporting Obama because she thinks he's the best man for the job. It's crazy how when black people support other black people, it's looked down upon. Then there was the comment "Black people always support their bro's". Of course black people stick together, why wouldn't we? If Flavor Flav was running for president, we would not vote for him just because he's black. We're not stupid so please don't imply that. Obama is a good candidate so why can't black people stand up and support? If not now then when? This is a cause which brings black people together in a positive way so why bash it? Why is it being frowned upon? If the candidate was a total idiot and we were supporting him then you would have every right to comment but he's not so why? Either way people are going to bash black people every single chance they get. The only way for racism to not exist is for black people to not exist. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY.

BTW: G-Rotica, that comment is about as racist as they come. It's called slang and white people speak it to. So, this means that all of the white kids who speak slang and run around acting like they are "black" are nig gers also right? Because they speak nig ger? Or are they not simply because of their skin color? Is that word only reserved for blacks? Are we nig gers because of our skin or because of the way some of us "act"?

Has nothing to do with skin color. I have some very good friends that are black, they speak to me in English, not ghetto or whatever you want to call it.

Ok so you wouldnt vote for Flavor Flav. Good, now answer this. O.J. guilty or innocent?

You're funny by the way, trying to prove a point with that question. Sorry but not all black people are the same.

Snake Doctor 12-14-2007 12:14 PM

There are lots of black people who don't support Obama.

I don't know what made you ask this question here (other than the fact that you're a troll in general) but if you actually read any polling data instead of just assuming that black people are supporting the black candidate, you would see that Hillary has the majority of the support among black democratic primary voters.

So did you really want an honest answer to your question or were you just trying to start a race fight with this thread?

dude you are missing the point. The point is that alot of black people support the guy just because he is black, they dont look at what he has to say etc. The other point is that some black people say that "he doesn't act black".

You really have to get over the sking color, get over feeling sorry for yourself, and look at every candidate as equal human beings and pick one based on his agenda - NOT his skin color. That's the point.

I feel like black people in the US play the damn race card very fucking much: Name me 5 black standup comedians who dont have their shows filled with black/white jokes.

You know what sucks is Kay Slay said that because he may not talk 'black' or support black agendas. I don't agree with that. When black people say a person does not act 'Black' enough, it's total bullshit. He's not accepted by a lot of blacks. But if he acts to 'black' then the white people wont accept him because he speaks to 'ghetto'. (That is the term you used right G-Rotica?) So where is the win in this for Obama? He get's shit from both sides and all because of what, his skin color. Being the president is hard, being the first black president will be even harder. There will be people who will try to assasinate him simply based on the fact that he's black. There are people who are so racist that it will make them sick to their stomachs to have a black man as president and it will soley be based on his skin color. If you ask me he's a brave man and I respect him for running in the first place.

In that case Kay Slay made a racial remark. But I guess that's alright because he's black and the black community has a lot of catching up to do on the racial front.

Oh, I also heard KaySlay is king of the blacks so if he says Obama is just another wite man, it must be true(yes! 2 Southpark hints right there!)

I see your point but you're barking up the wrong tree with Obama.
He has never played the race card in his political career.

Sure there are some black people who will vote for him only because he's black...but there are white people who WON'T vote for him just because he's black.
There are people who will vote for Huckabee only because he's a christian and people who will vote for Romney only because he's a mormon.
I'm sure alot of catholics voted for Kennedy in 1960.

Just because alot of voters have fucked up reasons for voting for the candidate they choose, doesn't mean we're supposed to hold that against the candidate. (Unless the candidate is playing the race/religion/gender/whatever card in order to get support)

I agree with you there.
I watched Bill Cosby on meet the press awhile back and he was talking about alot of that stuff. The cultural problems in the black community, where if a 12 year old black kid is studying his friends say "man, why you acting white?" or 13 year old black girls wanting to have a baby so they can "have something that loves me"

Now, I may catch hell for saying this...and I definitely think race or gender should NOT be a factor in who you vote for, BUT, imagine how great if would be for the black community if kids were looking up to Obama instead of some gangsta rap star or Michael Vick.
If instead of wanting to grow up to be a gangster they want to grow up to be president.

I'm not saying that's why anyone should vote for a candidate, but I think it would be one hell of a positive tertiary effect.

Well maybe if he is elected, things will change and start moving in that dirrection. It's never happened before so who knows what type of impact it will have on the black community.

I totally agree. So i guess with Oprah, if she had backed a white person and then backed Obama then it would be ok right? But, since she started with a black man it's allll wrong. I honestly think Oprah has a bigger agenda than just supporting him because he's black. She see's the potential of him being in office. If they are close buddies, then she's close buddies with the President! Which means when he's in office, he will back her on certain situations. It's a total power play for Oprah. I'm not mad at her, it's smart. the international bankers have being doing it for many, many years. They pawn their little puppets onto America only to further their agenda. Oprah has the same idea. It's smart.

That I can agree with. Well said.
