Anyone know how to find what other domains someone owns?

I know how to reverse IP, but this guy is registered and hosted at GoDaddy, so it says theres 15,601,335 domains hosted there, which isn't likely this guy's domains. Is there something else I can do?

I don't want to go into details, but basically this guy stole copyrighted text from a friend of mine's site and is using it on his, and I'm curious how many sites he's done this with.

d-null 12-13-2007 03:42 AM

I know you can look it up here but it costs:

http://whois.domaintools.com/

ModelPerfect 12-13-2007 03:58 AM

Thanks, I was using that before, but I think it still lists based on IP, which won't necessarily list just this guy's. I doubt there'd be a publicly available way to get a list of domains housed under this guy's Godaddy account, but that would prove very useful.

Of course, but I really don't want to post it or the original site here. I don't want there to be any connection between my friend's site and the adult industry, and the text in question would make it too easy to reference.

ModelPerfect 12-13-2007 04:10 AM

Anyway, I'm going to crash now, so I'll check back when I get up. Thanks!

teg0 12-13-2007 07:13 AM

yeah domaintools.com isn't very reliable unless they have a dedicated server they are hosting all their domains on. If its shared hosting then its not any good.

ModelPerfect 12-13-2007 11:16 AM

bump for the afternoon crowd. :)

WetNLive 12-13-2007 01:14 PM

If the domains are registered through GoDaddy, then it's going to depend on whether or not they use their "Domains By Proxy" service to protect the WhoIs records.

You can try using the tools over at DNS Stuff at this link http://member.dnsstuff.com/pages/tools.php

They give you like 10 free lookups before you have to start paying.

Hope this helps.

How about you mind your own fucking business?

If it's your friend that is being stolen from, leave it to your friend to track them down lone ranger.

Well, that's why I'm trying to get the list. I contacted every department in Godaddy, and they refuse to help literally saying, "it's not our job to determine if the site you mention is conducting illegal activities." My bet is this guy sends godaddy a lot of business, and they don't want to piss him off, so this list would at least show he's using godaddy extensively for his scams.

Thanks. They aren't using domains by proxy, but they are hosting at Godaddy, which means there are a LOT of domains using IP search (although I've found one that list 500+ for this domain and another that lists 2000+...those are more likely the guy, but I'm really not sure, because the whois are all different as is the style of the sites...maybe I just need to go through each one, one at a time, instead of spot-checking.)

Sorry, the icq was on another machine that blew up, but I can chat through gmail if you still have an account. I have to jump in the shower and be out of here in 20 minutes, so I might not be able to talk until tomorrow...

I know, but I didn't use ICQ that much anyway, so it didn't receive a high priority.

netsol used to allow searches by name and then list whatever domains that same person owned.

Yeah, they still allow searches by NIC handle, but I don't think that really helps me.

d-null 12-14-2007 01:48 AM

are you sure these guys can't do it?

http://whois.domaintools.com/

I don't think it uses ip to do it, as you mention in your post, did you look past the initial search page?

it looks to me that they use a database of names (nothing to do with IP)

Actually, I missed that search feature. Thanks for pointing it out. Unfortunately, the best I could do is find 2 other domains with the registrant info...not enough to justify $55 to actually see what they are, and I kind of suspect there should be a lot more, probably with false whois information that won't sync up with each other.

pretty cool tool...will be better when they index a greater number of domains. Right now they only have 929,304 domains indexed, which is comparatively small. Thanks.
