Fuck Democrats. They lied to get elected.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/12/...ing/index.html

Surprise surprise, politicians are liars.

If this passes I have no doubt they will lose the next vote by a landslide and this will SERIOUSLY affect the presidential run.

They're a complete failure.

That is the part that hurts.

They need to simply block legislation and REFUSE to sign anything.

Sly 12-12-2007 07:00 PM

Uh... yeh... wow... campaign promises don't get made. Whoda thunk it?

Talk is cheap. I'm always amazed how many believe campaign "wishes". What someone says on that campaign trail means little.

Nismo 12-12-2007 07:21 PM

webmasters know everything about politics.

HeadPimp 12-12-2007 07:50 PM

The partisan politics we have going on means that nothing gets done regardless of who is in power in what house. Politicians are pretty much in it for themselves these days, hence the huge amount of voter apathy!

tony286 12-12-2007 08:08 PM

it really confuses me , they have public support. the polls show the people want to get out of this war but they are fucking ball less.what are they so afraid of,dont they realize this was the reason they were put back into power?

They are afraid of the spin .....

Could list a few phrases that would be repeated over and over till people believe it , but there is no point.

Aside from Arnold ( and that to me is fucking unbelievable ) , politics in the US is fucked ... by politics .

LiveDose 12-12-2007 08:36 PM

When you have two clowns like Pelosi & Reid leading the charge what do you expect.

I mean come on.

Another example of the Democrats trying to show they are "different" by putting Nancy in charge. That was for show only, had nothing to do with qualifications.

Agreed. And because they are afraid of the spin in the upcoming elections the very thing they are trying to avoid (losing the election and presidency) could very well be the result because of their fear. Too cautious and spineless.

MediaGuy 12-12-2007 09:30 PM

Why shoot for democrats?

Like republicans DIDN'T lie to get elected or something?!?

lol the best is this:

Obviously one party sets up the other for scandal according to their vices, it's like porn marketting.

So, Democrats are generally a bunch of repressed homosexual cripples and when they set up Republicans for a scandal it's like gay prostitutes posing as journalists and teen cockpuppets being shipped to different republican gatherings.

And when Democrats are caught in scandals, it's set up by Republicans and what THEY think the worst thing that could happen is having sex with a woman. So you get Gary Hart, Bill clinton, Robert and John Kennedy - this sex with members of the opposite sex is SHAMEFUL to Republicans lol.

They rest of us scratch our heads. The Italians, Russians, French, etc... all think who gives a FUCK who he FUCKS - can he run a country??

They are politicians 90% of what they say is BS. Only thing they care about is getting re-elected and getting their bribe checks at the end of their public service.

I say if Iraq is finally starting to turn the corner in the right direction, well fuck it give them the money. I'd rather see Iraq be a success rather than yet another broken shit hole.

They aren't getting rich off of being politicians. They move into the private sector and make 5-10 times what they make as senators. They're underpaid when you think about what they do for a living is running the most powerful nation !
I think they should be required to vote on every issue though, Which is a joke at this point. Some senators and congressmen vote 1 of 5 issues. This party crap is destroying this country. But Imagine how quickly we could go from being a great nation to a shitty one if there weren't these stale mates. The patriot act was passed because they didn't allow enough time to debate the pros-cons. Rather than debating they all unanimously voted and look how that worked out. I think sometimes you have to stand back and still admire how well our country has performed and how well we are performing today.

Obviously they are not there for the money. They are addicted to the power and fame. Politicians are all self serving phonies.

The amount of time and money wasted by these clowns is really obscene. And when they talk about raising taxes, that's what pisses me off the most. So much pork and waste in DC. Fuckers.:321GFY

And I agree with Tony. No stale crusty lifers. That is what makes government stand still. All the inside games they play with lobbyists and eachother.

Brother Bilo 12-13-2007 09:33 AM

It would seem to be the obvious paramount consideration, wouldn't it? :1orglaugh

Until the vast majority of people in this country get their priorities together in a likewise fashion we'll always run the risk of electing yet another bozo.

Snake Doctor 12-13-2007 10:27 AM

The thing you people don't seem to realize is that the only way the Dems could "stop the war" would be to shut down the government completely, the entire federal government, and leave our troops in a war zone with no supplies.

If they did you'd be burning them in effigy for that too.

They have a majority but it's a small majority, they can't overcome a filibuster in the Senate and they can't override a presidential veto. They didn't "lie" about anything to get elected, their power is limited by the number of seats they have.

LAJ 12-13-2007 11:09 AM

"i am not a crook" - nixon

"i did not trade hostages for arms" - reagan

"read my lips, no new taxes" - g h w bush

TubeTitans_SusieQ 12-13-2007 11:10 AM

Does that seriously surprise people when politicians lie? I thought that was the game?Who can lie the best...

nation-x 12-13-2007 11:44 AM

I don't think it's a case of lying as much as having to deal with the fact that it's almost impossible for them to get any legislation passed when their fellow reublicans won't help them override the inevitable vetos that Bush will throw them... so the only way to get anything done is to package it with the war budget... because Bush needs that to continue his imperialist agenda.

Snake Doctor 12-13-2007 12:18 PM

Also, can you tell me specifically what they lied about during the 2006 campaign as it pertains to that news article?

We all know the democrats are opposed to the war and want to bring the troops home, but did they say they were going to cut off funding or bring the troops home before the 2008 election or anything like that?

I don't think so.

I haven't been able to find it or a similar story from any other news organization.

Also, all of the sources are "anonymous"....things that make you go hmmmm.

Some thing else that should be changed is the electoral college. Or am I the only one left that remembers that by POPULAR VOTE Gore won the election all those many years ago?
The thing that surprises me most at this point is that any one is surprised that the government is stalled. I'm getting so sick and tired of hearing people bitch about who's fault it is. The fault lies across both sides of the isle. Madame Speaker and other high ranking democratic officials for having no balls to lead their ever so slight majority to follow the will of the people and any given republican who has his head so far up a lobbiests ass that he can't see the truth.

The last 3 months very few of our guys have died and fewer Iraqis have died. though still low the % of those saying things aare getting better in Iraq are going up. Also the war is slowly but surely becoming secondary as a reason for voting for someone. Al the republicans have to do if they give Bush war funds is to say they democrats are against the soldiers. All they have to do is show a few dead soliders and say if the dems had funded the soliders they'd be alive and the idiotic public eats it up.

I agree with this. It would require amending the constitution though, and that takes a very long time.

There are alot of powerful congressional members from small states that want to keep things the way they are because by their states being "swing states" they get alot more attention than they would if the popular vote decided the election.
That, in my opinion, is the main reason no real effort has been made to change this.

After getting screwed in the election of 1824 Jackson had plans on doing this when he won in 1828. He found out the reality of changing the electoral college was harder than he planned and gave up trying to get it changed.

This is a myth. When was the last time a presidential candidate really campaigned in Alaska or Hawaii? They don't. Why? Because Alaska is always going to vote Republican and Hawaii will vote Democrat. Same thing goes for states like North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho and others. They will always vote republican. Minnesota and Massachusetts and DC will always vote Democrat. So candidates don't go to these states. Where do candidates go to? California, Florida, Ohio.

You are confusing the executive branch with the legislative. Two different things. :2 cents:

The states that have implemented term limits on their state legislators have seen pretty positive results.

If the limit was 8 years, as suggested by Tony404, yes.
