Ultimate TV vs. Replay TV vs. Tivo

Any opinions? I just had an UltimateTV receiver burn out after two years. I really liked it but before getting the same I thought I'd ask... The Replay thing from SOny looked real intriuging... has Progressive outs for my HD. =]

Funny..was just trying to decide which to grab myself. A while back I was looking at Tivo vs Ultimate TV. Back then I think the issue was ultimate TV can't save as much data as Tivo can. I think that's what i found negative about ultimatetv. I'll have to check again though.

Though i know friends who have Tivo and can't live without it...

well i had the stand alone tivo,,
fucked around and bought the lifetime membership thinking that it goes with the person,, i didn't realize it only goes with the box, the box only lasted 1 year,, the modem went bad after a storm, now its a peice of junk

well i decided to get the Ultimate TV, i went ahead got a satellite because of the speed and being able to use the dual tuner,

i like it cause its alot faster than Tivo,, only bad thing bout Ultimate TV is that it didn't have like all the new releases grouped in channels you can watch and also when you hit record it doesn't back record from the previous 30 minutes but rather starts the moment you hit record,,

good luck in buying Ultimate TV,, i heard stores have stopped selling or get sold out real quick,,

Microsoft has basically dropped UltimateTV - make of that what you will.

DirectTivo with the latest software has dual tuners (watch one show with real time pausing and shit, record another, or record two at once)..

ReplayTV has some more advanced "sharing" features, like mailing recordings to other ReplayTV users..

Personally, I would go DirectTIVO.. And will, as soon as I get into a civilized country where they will actually sell it to me. ;>

Cheers,
Backov

UltimateTV has been real buggy for me. The keyboard stopped working, the thing stopped recording (I rebooted it), and the guide scrolling has always been S-L-O-W.

I have DishPVR at my Tahoe house, it rocks (except the single tuner), and there's NO MONTHLY CHARGE.

I have had an 80 hour tivo for about 2 years. Wouldn't touch the MS stuff.. thought about replay tv for the show sharing feature.. then realized that no one I know ownes one.. so the feature is useless.

If I had to buy again.. it would be tivo.
