How does RapidShare get away with using PayPal?

I thought they didn't mix with porn? :helpme

BVF 12-11-2007 05:55 AM

if you read the TOS of both rapidshare and zshare, it states that they don't allow pornography...Now if they enforce this is up to them....If you put stolen porn movies up and link it to rapidshare on a messageboard, that seems to be ok..But don't put any real traffic on those links or the link will be disabled within 24 hours without anybody complaining about it.

Because they are just a "host" and they do not "allow" copyrighted content nor "adult content":disgust to be uploaded.

PS. If anyone happens to "find" adult or copyrighted content, email Rapidshare

:disgust

So how can they be hurting the industry?

I wonder that too, everyone is following the terms, right? Especially on the internet?

Well what I mean is that you can't just go to rapidshare and download files can you? Or am I missing something?

You can only download something off of rapidshare servers if you already have the link right?

So it's not anything in comparison to what damage the torrents and the (bad type) of tube sites that have full downloads and you can go and search for what you like and watch all you want.

Or am I missing something?

If the links are getting disabled quickly when a good amount of traffic hits it, I don't think Rapidshare is that bad of a place...

I'm telling you...they WILL disable a link that receives a lot of traffic....I had a link up on both the main page and the affiliate page of my site linking to a 10 minute video on zshare....I put it up at night and by the time I woke up in the morning, the link was disabled...

I have been disabled by zshare, snizzshare, pornhub, and a couple other smaller tube sites by just linking it on my page....Right now I have a pornotube video linked and I'm waiting to see how long it will be before they disable it...

People talk the "bandwidth is cheap" routine and say that you can link anything on tube sites but I know for a FACT that if you put any real traffic on it, the links will fold one by one...

Hey BVF,
Just out of interest, what do you consider to be 'real traffic'?
I know you have a very popular site, and you HAVE real traffic, but just out of interest, what in actual figures do you consider to be real traffic, say over a 24 hour period... (In relation to the share sites above)

CurrentlySober 12-11-2007 02:45 PM

Polite Bump for an answer to my question above :)

I consider real traffic traffic to make the tube sites notice and shut it down...As a matter of fact, I just got a video nixed by pornotube TODAY!!! I still have it linked as of right now and I'll have to take it down....All I did was have an embedded video put on http://www.blackvaginafinder.com/sample.htm and left it alone...It didn't even last 12 hours with Pornotube before they took the video off...

So pornotube, like ALL OF THE OTHER tubes will completely bitch out if you put traffic on any particular video....

I thought AEBN had traffic to burn? Guess not.

Yeah, but thats my point. How MANY hits is enough to make them take notice?

CurrentlySober 12-11-2007 04:59 PM

Well its OK at the moment... Cool Vid :)

I've seen rapidshare links with a high four digit number of downloads a day not being disabled for months, so I doubt that what maybe true for some tubes is true for rapidshare as well.

Brad Mitchell 12-11-2007 06:50 PM

I think that if someone crafted a nice letter and a hundred of us long standing PayPal account holders sent it in that RapidShare would lose their processing ability with PayPal. Simultaneously, a press release to PR Newswire might actually get picked up and published. If something like that hit news wise they'd lose it for sure.

I'm a little bit too busy to do anything but go over a final version but if one of you really smart mofos wants to work with my lawyer to put something together that is actionable please hit me up on ICQ or send me an email.

Seriously.

Brad
