Assinine Animal Lovers Rejoice

Suspended NFL star Michael Vick sentenced to 23 months in prison

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison Monday for his role in a dogfighting conspiracy that involved gambling and killing pit bulls.

The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback could have been sentenced up to five years by District Judge Henry E. Hudson. Vick was dressed in a black-and-white striped prison suit and apologized to the court and his family.

Hudson responded, "You need to apologize to the millions of young people who looked up to you."

"Yes, sir," Vick said.

Vick acknowledged he used "poor judgment" and added, "I'm willing to deal with the consequences and accept responsibility for my actions."

Before the hearing started, Michael Vick's brother, Marcus Vick, sat with his right arm around their mother, comforting her as she buried her head in her hands and wept.

Vick pleaded guilty in August, admitting he bankrolled the "Bad Newz Kennels" dogfighting operation and helped kill six to eight dogs.

In a plea agreement, he admitted bankrolling the dogfighting ring on his 15-acre property in rural southeastern Virginia and helping kill pit bulls that did not perform well in test fights. He also admitted providing money for bets on the fights but said he never shared in any winnings.

the dumbass got off easy.

mrthumbs 12-10-2007 09:27 AM

Thats way too harsh

bushwacker 12-10-2007 09:30 AM

That should just about "stick a nail in the coffin" of his N.F.L career.

What I find ironic is that a lot of the animal lovers I know in RL will step over the carcass of another human being in the street sitting in their own feces (i.e. a bum or homeless) but will bend over backwards for some fucking stray animal. Dressing them up in clothes, and all this other madness.

Wtf..

L-Pink 12-10-2007 09:32 AM

Good for him:thumbsup

Yeah, 22 months would have sufficed.

Shit, I'd gladly throw your children out of a row boat in a flood to save one of my own dogs.

Now all you have to do is start dressing them up in clothes.

I think these are two very diffferent things. This guy didn't choose a human over an animal. He drowned and hung animals and did some sick shit to them.

I wouldn't mind seeing someone hold his head under water for a long while.

Do not get me wrong here.

I think it's deplorable what he did. I am not anti-animal. But the people who think his career should be ruined, and he should fry for some, and I quote, "Innoncent animal" or "God's creatures" is insane.

It reminds me of a local news story here a month or so back where a farmer shot the neighbors dog, and she was on the news bawling about it.

The farmer has no tresspassing signs posted. He's told the woman/neighbor to keep her dog on a leash as it comes on his property chasing his animals, etc. She refused to do so, and he shot it.

It ended as it should be. It is hardly news worthy.

Vick's case is very sad display. The vicious things they did to dogs. But I am sure karma will get him in the end. But I hardly think this dude should be locked up for life, lose his career, or numerous other things I hear the 'animal lovers' asking for.

I hope you treat your fellow man with the same passion you do some animal.

Giving selflessly to your local charities. Volunteering your time to countless local causes for the disenfranchised. Helping the homeless and veterans. Also that you are not part of some organized religion. Although that would fit nice with the Hippocrates.

Carry on...

Sometimes I think where you're from makes a difference on how you view things. For example, I was at a tradeshow and this guy at the booth next to me was telling me that he lives in a farming area. For fun, they shoot raccoons...just for the hell of it. When I tried to explain my view, he didn't get it because he sees an animal as either something to eat, put to work, or kill if it causes trouble.

My issue here is that what he did was sick and cruel--If you are able to do this to something that has a heartbeat--I just don't think you have an conscious. Just my two cents..

PS. I would like to see him lining up for food stamps in two years.

Penthouse Tony 12-10-2007 10:22 AM

is he eligible to get out early on good behavior?

CDSmith 12-10-2007 10:28 AM

He'll do 12 months, if that.

Sadly, it won't be enough time for his supporters to figure out that what he did was wrong.

Verbal 12-10-2007 10:53 AM

You're an idiot and you're generalizing.

btw ... Anybody ever tell you that you look like a douche bag?

Babaganoosh 12-10-2007 11:08 AM

23 months? That idiotic primate got off easy. If someone kills him, they should get off with 23 months too. I mean, we're just talking about killing animals here, right?

Scott McD 12-10-2007 11:11 AM

They should leave him in a cell with 10 hungry pit pulls. See how the asshole likes that.

Payback time !!
