The guy has virtually no experience in leadership nor politics.
Even if he obtained 100% of the african american vote, he still wouldn't win.

I think they are going to push for Hillary and Obama to be president because they are banking on Americans to vote against the Republicans regardless of who the opponent is.

As for Hillary, the only people I know that are for her, don't know her history. Obama on the other hand I know nothing about, but looks to me to be the whitest black man they could get out on to the campaign trail.

My guess is you live on one of the coasts, because people there tend to forget about red state America, and red state America is not ready for a black President. That's not necessarily MY opinion, that just a recognition of today's political realities.

Personally, I will take any Republican they nominate. Last night I watched John McCain on TV in NH, and he made alot of sense. Maybe he will team up with Huckabee, that would be a great ticket. Rudy and Huckabee would be great too.

Romney is very polished, almost Kennedyesque. He would be good too.

Fred Thompson seems to be losing steam. He was my favorite, but I think Huckabee has more energy and fire in his belly.

America is about as ready for a Mormon as they are a woman, black or Jew.

I'm not american and don't follow american poltics too closely (only as much as is forced on me) but from what I can tell the Democrat candidates are all running on "gimmicks" and when it comes down to it, the average 'merican would rather vote in some old white dude.

Oprah's backing of him would probably have looked a lot more credible had she also as strongly backed other candidates in previous elections. She may have voted for several and probably does have friends of all races (as do I), but when has she ever stood up and publicly backed someone so vehemently?

All I'm saying is it just looks a little convenient. If you truly think her motives are 100% genuine and non-race related whatsoever then say it, and state why. Your point of view would look a lot better than the insult-riddled tirades you guys are slinging here.

And let's be clear here... I'm not saying Obama is a bad candidate, not saying people shouldn't vote for him either. Fact is, in the news and media spots I've seen of him, he comes off as quite the speaker and very personable. Despite what others say I think he is one of the few in the running worth voting for.

I just want to make sure he's being backed for the right reasons, especially by celebrity entities with huge viewerships like Oprah.

i think its quite normal to expect her to back him. its consistent with who she is, what she believes in and how she behaves. she is very much about black people and black issues and this is a case where she can throw her weight into the situation and quite possibly change the course of history. from her pespective, just putting him out front and making sure he enjoys a lot of popular support already achieves a lot if you look at it from the perspective of black people. it's reasonable to think that making this guy popular and accepted as a presidential candidate can certainly pave the way for future black candidates. (although, i'm not overly convinced that race/sex is as big an issue as some seem to think it is... people respond to great leaders and leadership more than anything)

i dont like her. but i deeply respect the fact that she came from nothing, makes no excuses and has become one of the most successful black people and one of the richest people on the planet ever, with more influence over people that any black person has ever had in this country.

So it IS at least in part a "black thing" then.

As you seem to be saying, it is what it is. Nothing more. If he does manage to get elected it won't matter one wit that her backing of him was a little convenient or not.


But I still say your cause would go a lot further if you were to tone down your insults and racist accusations against people. Obviously some deserve it, but some do not. I doubt anyone's vote will be swayed by insults, but they might vote differently when presented with facts and reasoned arguments.

Sad to say but if the Dems want in and either Hillary or Obama gets the nom, then they'll need a good ol' boy from the south who is middle of the road to be the VP. Hopefully Huckabee gets the repub. nom because I think (hope) that enough people are sick of the moronic christian right.
