Modern dating question...
If you met a guy via the internet, had more talks via text, e-mails, and instant message, is it okay to break up via cell text?
|
Assuming that you have had personal contact with them at some point in your relationship, I'd say that's never really "ok," unless you're trying to emphasize the point that you really don't care about them.
|
So that's what you meant by "stay away"...I thought you were playing hard-to-get. :(
|
Did the relationship progress past the virtual relationship? If so, a phone call or email would be in order.

Do whatever is easiest for you. I've been dumped via a dry erase board. It was kinda nice really. We didn't have to mess with that pesky uncomfortable silence.
|
if you were talking to him for weeks online, then met him irl and got disappointed already on your first date, then well, i guess that's ok to 'break up' online or via SMS and tell him you don't really want to see him anymore
but if you were closer to him than I described above, then you should handle it better I guess |
Never ok to break up via text, email or phone. This is for cowards.
Unless you do it on a dry erase board, because this is funny. Get yourself balls and do it in person. Unless of course you are talking about your "cyber-boyfriend" that you never met in person, but I doubt that. |

Britney is trailer trash, not sure you want to follow her footsteps.

I say yes. You met that way, you can end that way. It's harsh, but hey, breaking up is harsh. Love em then leave em. If you were ruthless, you'd send a text message with your new man and you. So, this isn't so bad. Heartbreaker! |
Dont worry. I read gfy. I got the message....
:Oh crap |
Well, it started off great, almost too perfect... then he angry-drunk dialed me and I broke it off before going going to the LA show. He texted me while I was out there and we proceeded to have a decent convo til he called me later and again was drunk and confrontational. I told him I'm done and good luck with life.
While I was gone I received the heart-wrenching apologetic kiss ass email (friend's wife just died, mom super ill, lots of shit going on, etc)... and felt bad. (I was wearing my Sucker hat that day) Called him when I got back to sort things out... try it again but this time keeping him at arms distance, so the first time I see him after all that he shows up drunk being way too gropy and demanding. I know better than to confront a drunk so we get something to eat, he's annoying as fuck the entire but as he sobers up he turns back into the normal nice guy I met... and we end up having a nice weekend together, no nooky, just hanging out... Then last night things went from "meh..." to "oh shit I gotta get out of this..." |

I gotta take my refresher course on Pimp Hand 101... you got any online courses coming up? :pimp |
If you don't know him personally then I don't see a problem.
|
Sure, it's fine.
|
good gawd, i can't believe you gave that jerk another chance. since you broke it off live before, the text at this point is fine and all he deserves. you have much better stallions in your stable gurl :winkwink:
|
The guy is obviously an alcoholic. Returning his calls or responding to him in any way is insane. Just dump him and move on.
A text message, in this case, is fine. |
Break up by phone is not original
These days you just leave a message on his myspace :upsidedow |

He left a bag at my house last night. I don't even want to see the guy to give him his shit back. |
Sounds like you might want to emphasize the point that you really don't care about him in this case.
In that regard, refer to my what I already done said, Dahlin'. :winkwink: |
|
Just send him a text!
|
yeah... sure! Dump him on facebook!

with that kind of situation breaking up via sms is fine. well, guys are really fuck up.
|
If you want, I can text message him and let him know.
|
Baby, if you need to get an advice from a person with zero experience in any kind of non sexual relationship, you can ask me anytime! :winkwink:

Not to seem impolite, but that is funny. :upsidedow |

Sounds like it may be the best way to end this one... Keep as much distance between you as you can. Good luck.

My ex from a few years back broke up with me over a text. So I replied LOL.
|
why not in a first place you build a relationship over the net and text. I don't see anything bad about it.
