I did not post this to be funny I know that there are people on this forum that ride bikes like myself I just wanted to show to both car drivers and bike riders just how dangerous it is to ride bikes and how easy something can go wrong when you are not concentrating on the road and watching this video realy bought it home to me just how damm lucky I have been since riding bikes. I am sorry if it disurbed you but I did say it was very graphic and you did not have to click on the link to the vid

Why do videos have to be so compressed you can't see much? And that sucks for that rider, just slipped out with no warning. Scary shit.

I had a pretty bad wreck 15 or so years ago.

I let my buddy ride my fatboy with his girl and I jumped on my other buddies bike and rode bitch. We hit a pickup head on going 80mph. I went over the truck, landed on my helmet (thank you Bell) and skidded 210 feet on my back. When I sat up I was less that a foot from the steel guardrail. The driver went a little farther and he also caught his foot on the truck, fucked it up pretty bad.

I rebroke my ankle, had road rash over 30% of my body (leather coat unzipped, t-shirt, jeans, boots, no gloves, helmet) that took weeks of burn therapy to heal. What really sucked is that is happened in Florida, in July and to top it off, the bike caught fire.

I still can't watch other people bite it. Needless to say, I couldn't bring myself to click the link.

I do still ride but never bitch. My jacket is always zipped. I always wear a helmet and gloves. Now if I can get you car driving fuckers to stop pulling out in front of me or cutting me off or forcing me off the the highway I'll be fine.

Yep I learned a good lesson when I had my bike accident I had a Lid on but I had no gloves or no leather and the crash was only a 35mph accident when a woman reversed out of her drive and Did not see me coming down the road(or did not bother to look) but I hit the back end of the car and apart from braking my leg all my hands and finger nails were bleeding from road burn as well as my legs Now I always wear leather and gloves even if I go a short distance, but the amount of people I see over here wearing only shorts and a shirt and trainers makes me cringe. If only they knew how quick an accident can happen on a bike, and it dosent matter whether you are doing 90mph or 30mph. I also think that most bike riders are more aware of what is going on around them than car drivers as I tend to find when Im driving my car with the cd on and all tucked up in my little safe warm box I am not concetrating on the road as when I am riding my bike.

The bikes dont look that big and he did start to speed up before the bike went down but Its kinda hard to tell if the bike slide on gravel or deisel or oil or from taken the bend to fast. His postioning to take the bend did not look to good either could be just pure inexperience. I know I have slid on gravel as I turned right at a crossing but I had just pulled of so wasent even doing 5 mph but the front wheel hit the gravel as I went round the corner and the bike just slid.

Hymes 12-07-2007 09:42 AM

I went down a few weeks ago on the way home from work in LA. Accident right in front of me that I simply couldn't avoid, and I've been riding my whole life and for years in LA. Man, I went down hard even though we were all going about 15 fucking miles an hour. Doesn't matter. The pavement is unforgiving. My body slid into a parked car too, but my helmet saved my head, which hit first. Neck is still sore.

So the cars were all fender benders and my beautiful Suzuki Bandit 1200 is totaled. That's also the reality of riding a bike.

I won't watch the video. I don't ride crazy. I have a wife and son. But I think these vids do serve a purpose because people are insane out there. I think the vast majority of hotrod bikers are kids. I just gotta think so. No one of any experience would risk their lives for nothing. They know how quickly it can go bad.

So the upshot for me is, I can't imagine not riding again, but I'm thinking about seriously curtailing or quitting.

What do I do, Baddog?

Well then do me a favor and tell your stupid fuckface friends riding to stop acting like assholes and cutting me off in my car because they can squeeze between me and another car. Goes around comes around.

carol.prime 12-07-2007 09:50 AM

omg! i think we should be careful then.

Gravity

Guard Rails and Bikes should never touch. He was lucky his head did not ride the rail. The helmet tends to keep the head in place on the blade until it gets severed.

MattO 12-07-2007 10:30 AM

When I'm done building my bike I'm not riding it until I can find an exoskeleton to wear.

Doesn't take much to break your leg off. I had my leg twisted right around 2 years ago skiing. Let me tell you this, IT SUCKS ASS!

Those wouldn't be my friends but even if they were I would still say, if they're stupid enough to try and cut off a car while on a bike they deserve what they get. When a car cuts a bike off it's a little different. I've been riding for over 30 years and have been forced on to the sidewalk more time than I can count. Hmmm, anyone wanna buy a bike?

VeriSexy 12-07-2007 12:15 PM

Wow calm down both bikes and cars are to blame for stupidity on the roads, and I know that when Im driving my car it is sometimes hard to see bikes because of blind spots when driving and I wonder how many car drivers actully do a life saver (a quick look over your shoulder) when changing lanes or over taking cause I was taught to this on my bike and you fail your bike test if these are not done. but when I did my car test I was only taught to use the mirrors. I have been pushed over onto the grass verge by a guy in a van that just did not look when he changed lanes, and yes some bikers do stupid things too. It pisses me off when car drivers always blame bike riders but it aint always the bikers fault:2 cents:

svenski 12-07-2007 02:28 PM

Sticking to four wheels after that.

If you are stupid enough to ride like that, at least bring along some friends who know first aid. Fuck, he could have saved a few pints of blood with a simple tourniquet.

So you had your first wreck? Congrats, you survived and can get back on.

There are two kinds of riders, those that have gone down and those that will. You got it out of the way.

Now, I have heard of some guys that can never seem to shake it, but I think you have been riding too long to be one of those.
