SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - Two men who allegedly paid street people to fight each other as part of the Internet video sensation "Bumfights" have been arrested in San Diego, police said on Tuesday.

The arrests of Las Vegas residents Zachary Bubeck, 24, and Ryan Edward McPherson, 19, followed a three-month probe by the La Mesa Police Department into the "Bumfights" tapes, Lt. Raul Garcia said. La Mesa is a suburb of San Diego.

The felony charges will probably be reduced to misdemenors and they will still get to keep their money.. they will just have to loose some of it paying for some good attorneys..

I hate to say it, but I think the police are right to do this - If we are unwilling to police ourselves by simply saying "we wont buy this, its just plain wrong" then I guess we really cant bitch when someone else steps up to the plate.

I hope they end up shutting it all down - I saw it first hand happening at the Vancouver show and it just made me SICK!

Unfortunately, you need a boxing promotion license to stage fights in any jurisdiction.

Another piece of bad news: they were arrested by state officials meaning they will go to state prison instead of federal prison if convicted. State prisons are notorious for violent male rapes.

Should be interesting to see their next video "Prison Bitch Fights" documenting their attempts to fend off anal intruders while in state prison.

I loved watching the advocate for street people saying that he was all for the Bum Fight tapes, simply because it kept the issue of homelessness in the public eye, and held the medias attention...

Why did they not cover their asses and get the appropriate paperwork? I guess homeless people are a tough call since most of them definitely don't carry identification/ssn cards huh.

I do think if they were leaving injured bums lying around while their tapes sell like hotcakes that they are in the wrong. However I don't see why someone could not take the idea and run with it.

I have to say that I think encouraging kids across america to harrass homeless people does suck though. Not that this does not happen already but you can be sure the copy cats will come out the wood work. Lots of good and bad points in it all.

But hey how come nobody has just found some willing bum, hire him appropriately and then get chicks to suck his dirty dick and take it in the ass and make a reality site about that? Sort of like sponsor your local derelict and help the guy get his life together type of thing. Like a charity meets porn cause. Fun and $$$ for everyone, opposed to giving a bum a few bucks to let you film him getting tied up and shit, and then leaving his broken ass in the alleyway, thats lame.

hey. this is slys roomie. i still cant believe this shit. i woke up early this morning to the fucking phone ringing. it was ryan (sly). said they got busted by some cops for setting up the fights. fucking unreal. i dont know whats going on. he said hed have his lawyers call me back later today with news. i still cant fucking believe he got busted. does anyone know how i can get a hold of his rents. i bet they know something. ill keep you all up to date with new info.

If two fucking adults agree to fight and get paid to do so whats the big fucken deal. I have never seen bum fights nor do I want to, its just not my type of enterainment. If you dont like it dont watch it. Maybe they should arrest Delahoya for pounding vergas' ass. They both got paid and one got thier ass kicked. They signed a contract and one got more money than the other; should they get arrested also. The amount of money should not matter the fact is if they get paid to fight it should be allowed.

For those bringing kids into the subject these are adult sites kids should not be watching anyway.

These guys are going to be bigger than ever. I hope they're smart enough to get the best lawyers they can afford.

Actually he must have been talking about the story being aired later this week. The program just ended and I didn't see any more on Bumfights. They did show a bunch of clips from the tapes as a preview though.

Yup, they better hope they can find a way to keep their site live. Their television exposure is going to be huge in the upcoming weeks.
