Iraq: Vietnam for Gen Y'ers?
Here is a perfectly nonsensical crazy rambling that I'd like to get some feedback on (Everybody in here has opinions on Iraq. But let me propose a new one).
Why are politicians in certain countries agreeing on Iraq? Democrats and Republicans in Washington and Labourers and Conservatives in the UK? What this leads me to believe is...Have these politicians been given some information that we, as in THE GENERAL PUBLIC, have not been given? For the sake of our safety maybe?!? I hope this doesnt sound too conspiracy-ish. Another thing I'm thinking is that this is the most intense time in global politics that I can remember. So, for those of you that can remember, what was the buildup to Vietnam like? Or am i completely wrong that any of you would even know? |
FYI: Democrats and Republicans are not agreeing on Iraq.
Did you hear Al Gore's speach? http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...iraq_gore_dc_1 |

We remember the Viet Nam buildup (which it really wasn't in now a day terms), it was more of a fill in from the vacuum of forces from other countries... I won't mention them as I am sure their history books have them all as Rambo's/ What *I* personally remember was filled in by my ex-Navy mother as I got older.
And I live with someone who spent a few days dawdling over there after Nam visiting a few Khymers etc., and some other places such as Thailand to let them know that the USA was still around. I understand SOME of those areas are friendlies and some aren't. Just so you abroad, AWM's to know to watch your backs. lol Especially some. Long memories are an Asian strongpoint and they are faithful to their cause or favors owed. Iraq isn't anything like what any of those built to be. More of a Georgie just wants to make himself look good for the next election. We're starting to view it as a bully situation. Sh*t or get off the pot and if the little guy whuos your tail then live with it. BTW we did NOT votee for him and wouldn'thave if he came across as aa super brain. Look at Daddy's record and then listen to him. Odds are Iraq doesn't stand much of a chance and odds are we in the US will also take some attacks here as well. But h*ll, you know as well as *I* do, we can write all the congressman we want and the outcome will be the same. The government officials will do what THEY deem as necessary. Somehow I do NOT have the flowerchild feeling now that I did growing up during Viet Nam (and assorted conflicts there that are NOT talked about) BiBiK lmfao |
