xxxjay and other late night guys that drink/drive ... TIP
I don't want to debate drinking and driving. We have all been there done that. The designated driver deal requires planning and a sober friend, something I never seem to have at 1:30 am. A cab is sometimes impossible to find. When and if a cab arrives guaranteed it will be old, dirty, driven by some creep and you have the problem of picking up your car the next morning.
Here is a little tip I have used over the years ..... Call a tow company. A $75,000 roll-back that the driver proudly washes everyday will deliver you and your car home for less than round trip cab fare. It's also a lot more fun if you are with a date. You're welcome. . |
saying you can't find a cab in LA is like saying you can't find a girl to suck cock on camera in LA.

jay doesnt drink and drive.
he takes cabs everywhere. just to clear that up. why would you assume jay drinks and drives? just because he has parties and stuff? BTW: i have gotten a dui and its no fun and i certainly haven't thought of driving again after you get it. california fucks you hard in the ass when you get one. Statistic: In L.A. county just over thanksgiving weekend there were over 400 DUIs just in one county. Like you said, been there done that, and until you get stung you dont see the ramifications or consequences. 2cents |

lol,. didnt see that and i was with jay last night at vice for a bit. yeah, he's a tard for that one but i can tell you he's always the one who has us get a cab. |
I used to think I was smart waiting till 5-6am to drive home after doing some partying. That was till i wrapped my whip around a pole. That was a while ago and I've learned my lesson.. Nothing but trouble.. Like it has been posted already.. LEAVE THE WHEELS AT HOME!!!

Guys,
I'm a veteran and fan of a good buzz ..... My advise was for those few times where you say fuck-it I'm driving home ONLY because you have your car with you. I saw Jay's post but decided to address everyone not just him.

i will never do that shit again. thats why you get fucked so hard by the state. i am fortunate, i had a great lawyer and never lost my license. so glad the whole thing is over. all it takes is one SUD (sudden unimportant decision) and you're in trouble. trouble that doesn't go away for months. |

you should never assume, Airek is always 100% right? Now who owes who an apology? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh |
Budweiser has been promoting a tow and ride service down her for the last few weeks for the holidays
They provide this service for free. Smart marketing |
Get a group of friends and everyone chip in $ - order a limo for the night, it isn't that expensive. Have it pick everyone up, wait for you at bars, take you to better bars, then take everyone home at the end of the night. And you can drink in a limo between locations.
Nothing like getting a limo driver to back into the drive-thru of carles jr at 3am. |

My one friend drives a one ton dually quad cab truck. He has a CAA membership that he pays for every year, so if he is stuck somewhere hammered and there are too many cops around, he just calls CAA and tells them his truck is broken down.
He gets so many tows a year that are free. It's not an easy job towing his truck either, since it is basically a tow vehicle itself. He hauls trailers for a living with it. They drive him right home. Not a bad deal, especially considering it costs $90 plus tip just to get a taxi to come from the city out to where we live. That's why there are so many impaireds given out around here... There's no friggin taxi or bus service at all, unless you want to spend over $100 every time. |
Okay but let's be real... how often could one conceivably use the tow truck angle before the company or AAA or CAA got wise to it? Someone going out a few times a year may be able to get away with it but wouldn't they be getting peeved at someone hitting them up for a tow home twice a week or more?
Btw I like the idea. Don't get me wrong. The other flaw in it is... if more than a few people in your town or city started getting the same idea they would never be able to keep up. I can just see it now, 2 am every Friday and Saturday night and they get 75 calls for a tow, all from various night spots around town. Better to like Fletch said leave your car at home from the getgo. |

And how long does it take to wait for a tow truck to arrive, mount it up, drive you home and take it off? Probably 3X longer than a cab. If you can't find a cab outside a club after 20 minutes, your not in a good club to begin with.

Has anyone tried the trick they showed in the Captain Morgan commercials?
Show up to a pizzeria or fast food delivery place, order some food and tell them to deliver and get a ride with the delivery guy? Seems too easy to be true, food and a ride for $20 :) WG |

Obviously my tip has limitations, please keep it in context. The context being an unplanned party night where you find yourself over the limit and about to talk yourself out of taking a cab because you have your car with you. . |

A few of thoughts
Cabs are great for New York but whoever said they go from the Valley to Sunset in cabs every weekend....your crazy. This is LA I drive everywhere...I just dont get hammered to where I shouldnt drive. The tow-truck idea is cool but not new...many of us have nice cars that cant just be dragged by a tow truck..try getting a FLAT BED into the Les Deux parking lot at 3:30AM...lol...nice try:thumbsup If I plan on getting wasted I do the limo thing with my buddies. If I didnt plan on it but I am wasted I find a pretty, unsuspecting sober girl to help little ole me out and drive me home because I am wasted...:winkwink: |
I love that Captain Morgan commercial....good idea

but I have seen jay take tons of cabs and also speak out against dui guess no one is perfect |
If I'm driving and staying somewhere new, the first thing I do is find local cabs, and store thier #'s on my cell..

They have to use a BIG flatbed to tow my friend's truck because it can't be towed by lifting the front. |
