Would you let your 10 year old kid play a 15 rated game?
The old age concern about the graphic content on videos games is on the news again with parents complaining about the violence in some games. When my kids were younger I would only buy them the correct rated games for thier age..how stupid can parents get when they buy thier 10 year old kids 15 or 18 rated games then complain about the content. I know that when our kids were younger they went round to thier freinds house to play 18 rated games and it can be hard to controll what they play but in my eyes its up to the parents to controll what games they play and most kids can relate to violent games as being nothing but fantasy, Is this going to end up with a ban on violent games in the future and would you buy your kids 18 rated games?

No - I wouldn't.
|
It really depends on the reason for the rating.
|
There's a violence in cartoons too.
|
I totally agree. Parents seem to rely on the government and on laws to raise their children these days. They ought to be sterilized.
|
yes, yes I would. Kids are already desensitized by that age, especially in today's culture, unless as a parent you're really hardcore in censoring your kid from everything. If that is the case, then you're doing way more damage to your kid than a video game rated for 15 year olds could ever do.

depends on the reason for the rating. I don't put a lot of stock in a committee composed of abused housewives and over the hill grannies's ratings. I make my own decisions on what is or isn't appropriate for my children.

let the kid kills in game and be pacific in real world :P

cause parents are too lazy to do the work
they want others to do it for them same as in telivision/movies/internet they don't want to have to check everything or do anythign to prevent their kids from seeing such conent/material, but they won't do anythign about it rather raise hell and talk loud and blame others then to do it themselves |

i wont take the risk...
would you get your 15 yr old kid to play a 10 yr rated game? |
of course not!! they need to play the games fitted to their age.
|
it depends on the game...
anyways... i think the kids would play them (in a friends house... etc) but as a father you shouldnt buy them the games... |
depends on the 10 year old. 18+ games probably wouldn't have bothered me at 10 but i knew a lot of very sheltered kids that probably shouldn't be exposed to that type of stuff.
it's a judgement call that should be taken up by the parents not regulated by some agency. |
most likely no but it would depend on the content and reason for rating.
|
Depends entirely on what the reason for the rating is and if it was my kid or someone elses. My kid is 4 and has liked watching me blast monsters since she was 2 and saw me playing Doom. She insisted on watching when I played. At least until towards the end when it got real bad. ]
But then again I talk to my kids about whether or not the stuff on the TV is real or not and she knows the difference between real and made up. Most kids these days are TV fed slugs with no glimmer of real intelligence. |
