 making money on AVS?

those here that do avs, how do you structure an AVS site, what are the best ways?
i've seen some pretty high quality frontends out there, and i am wondering if that means that the surfer is more likely to either sign up or click on a banner? i think it'ld make it easier to get them to sign up. |

 contact me to discuss
	a friend :) |

Its somewhat of an open secret. AVS, on the whole, tend to make more money with less traffic as compared to TGPs, LLs, etc.
Really well done entry sequences convert member signups well. Either from SEs or from the AVS' own internal referral system. Cool thing with AVS is that even if you don't get a membership sign up you can still win because you have banners and ad areas in your content pages. Quote:

when a surfer hits the front of an avs that can be mistaken for a paysite, or even one that, while lacking the polish of a paysite, but still presents a quality front, are they more likely to pull out their wallets? |

You should try to have a nice front end but it is by no means necessary. Shitty looking AVS sites can convert very, very well. Just try not to make them too shitty.

a small more specific one with low competition wouldn't need high quality sites to make one stand out from the rest. but a high volume one would. a good tight niche would only need quality copy, done by someone who actually gets what it is about that niche that turns on the surfers |

Best way is to make a couple of really nice looking sites, and then not so site.. and see what converts for you content and your traffic. Thats not going to be the same for example what converts for me. It also depends on whether you are selling a FREE AVS pass.. etc
Experiment.. see what works for you.. and try a good AVS like the one in my sig.. converts at < 1:30 on nice looking designs ;) good luck Nurgle |

Yes a good design will convert better..
Key to AVS's is getting your own traffic as well.. not just relying on link list traffic! Chris |

 definitely
with traffic in mind that brings into consideration the amount of good, within context, copy/spider food on the first pages, and finding the balance between that and graphic frontends |

Thats just for what i promote and the source of traffic
I have had no so good looking sites in the pass perform well as they dont look professional, and it was more of a "homely" feel to it.. It depends on your niche.. and source of traffic.. just my :2 cents: Nurgle |

I've had some ugly fucking sites make mad sales.. It doesn't matter a purty your sites are... One of my really old sites with only a couple of preview thumbs and some text do 15 sales last week.. It's all in the sales pitch...

the performance of a site is probably dependant on the type of traffic.
possibly, the sales came from surfers with a restricted access to other sites of the same type, thus lowering the barrier of entry to the les educated market. in a maket place where a large number of different sites selling the same thing exist, it would force an increase in the general visual quality of the sites to remain competitive environment. the internet is a weird thing. itcan potentually opperate as a flat market, where every option is visible, but the browsing habits of the average consumer make this impossible to achieve. |

 corvo icq me please :)

From what I've seen, basic avs sites do better than paysite quality avs sites. Surfers really want content, not slow loading graphic intense site. Loading doesn't matter on broadband much, but don't forget there are a lot of dial-ups. Maybe uglier sites work better because they load faster, or they see a few preview pics on a short tour so they don't have time to think about joining or not joining, or maybe it's because the high quality designs make it seem like there's a catch somewhere.

 thats a very interesting reply.
so load times are a real consideration with AVS surfers, with samples being more important then a polished look. that point you made about there 'being a catch' isn't something i had even thought about. |

if you can make something load fast, look great, displaying content they realy really want right now and assure the surfer there is no catch (#1 in the business, trusted for centuries) etc and it really is the best deal they can get it should convert really well.
on the other hand, 30 mpeg screenshots spread out down a page linked to join code and very little else can convert like crazy also. |

Site design is a VERY VERY important part of making money in an AVS system. I also agree that load time and site design have a great influence on how much money you will see when using an AVS.
	:thumbsup |

the lamest looking sites i have ever seen are AVS type sites and they list all over ppc engines and run banners everywhere very successfully. they convert like mad with the "learn what they don't want you to know" crap and then point surfers to free trials with avs. well, that or free e-zines.
