should i upgrade to vista?

Do you guys think i should upgrade to vista? What are the pros or cons about it?

martinsc 12-03-2007 12:17 PM

i have one machine running vista and i'm pretty happy with it. no issues at all...
I like the effects and aero.

tony286 12-03-2007 12:18 PM

wait for sp1.

CurrentlySober 12-03-2007 12:18 PM

Is it broke? No?
Well why try to fix it?

If all is good with XP, stay with XP till you get a new PC with vista installed...

I personally use vista and think its great... But no point in upgrading for the sake of it, on an older machine...

Not now - wait for SP 1 to come out.

pornguy 12-03-2007 12:33 PM

I would not upgrade. But if you purchase a new PC. nothing wrong with getting it from the factory.

shermo 12-03-2007 12:35 PM

No need for an upgrade if you have XP. I have Vista on a laptop that came pre-installed, and it's ok....Just memory intensive.

The Sultan Of Smut 12-03-2007 12:38 PM

I just bought a new comp a couple weeks ago with vista and have had no problems. It's definitely a lot more sluggish than XP but apparently SP1 (out in Jan 08?) is supposed to speed things up a bit.

If you're not needing to play DX10 games then XP is probably a better choice but if you're getting a new computer then by all means go nuts, just make sure you got oodles of RAM.

[Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for anything if downgrading to Vista turns tragic.]

DaddyHalbucks 12-03-2007 12:39 PM

Why? It will only slow down your machine. Even with lots of RAM, it is still as slow as molasses in winter.

Sosa 12-03-2007 12:59 PM

Make sure you have a lot of ram to keep up with it. I'm running it on a new machine with 4 gigs of ram and everything works great

Just_Dave 12-03-2007 01:01 PM

thanks for all the info guys

sue 12-03-2007 01:21 PM

Simple, NO wait!

KILL_FRENZY 12-03-2007 02:01 PM

the answer is NO

Mr.White 12-03-2007 02:10 PM

Totally happy with my vista ultimate machine. Didnt have a single prob with it yet.

Meeper 12-03-2007 02:34 PM

I run vista fine on my machine, have been since it first came out. If you have a fairly decent comp you shouldn't have any issues.

Kimo 12-03-2007 03:05 PM

do NOT upgrade to vista

shuki 12-03-2007 03:08 PM

Short but complete answer: NO!

minusonebit 12-03-2007 03:38 PM

The biggest problem with Vista is not stability, its compatibility. There are still ALOT of programs that wont run on it, or will run and give strange errors. Alot of driver issues too, for older printers and scanners and such. It took me a while to work through all of my problems, but I finally have most items more or less working correctly.

D 12-03-2007 05:00 PM

I wouldn't upgrade, personally... unless I had some actual reasons for wanting to do so.

As far as Vista goes, though, I've been running it pretty hard-core, myself, for nearly 3 months now, and zero complaints.

minusonebit 12-03-2007 05:04 PM

Note: If you have Dymo label printers (any of them) you will be in Vista hell.

swampthing 12-03-2007 05:05 PM

I am going to be downgrading a new machine with vista installed, to XP, as soon as i find some free time.

seeric 12-03-2007 05:08 PM

two words

FUCK NO.

VicD 12-03-2007 05:10 PM

not yet wait for the sp

Moe 12-03-2007 05:13 PM

No reason to fix something that's not really broken, unless you've been having issues with XP?
