Is there anyway to estimate page rank before the google bar update for the purpose of building backlinks?

Appreciate any info and thoughts on the subject.

There were some online services but they predicted shit so i removed them from my bookmarks

I wish google would do this for us in the WMT... pisses me off to still be N/A waiting with my thumb up my ass.:disgust
