Are Members fed up of sites full of plugins?
 

You go to most sites now and they are JUST plugins, are members fed up of seeing just plugins? I have joined many sites over the years :Graucho and I certainly am fed up of plugins.

Do sites with mainly there own content and a more structured design and layout keep members better?

yes, probably

I would say that depends on the plugin it if it looks like you did not leave the site and the site looked good I would say no.

I do not use them on any of my sites, I have over 1000 sets of content, I like to have full control of what my members get.

I have enough to keep them happy re-bills are not a problem that I have. I have no desire to use plugins in the future.

i have no doubt that surfers are completely fed up with joining paysites with great front ends only to find a members area full of the same plugins they saw at the last paysite they joined.
Paysite subscribers join lots of sites, many have concurrent memberships at other paysites. This is why you are seeing the 1 and 2 month retention rates. But these surfers aren't going to give up, they're motivated porn surfers looking for some value and they will find it eventually. I don't think this type of customer
says to himself one day "Ah shit, another fucking 30 bucks for Holio and Webmaster Paradise shit. THAT'S IT I'M NEVER JOINING ANOTHER PAYSITE IN MY LIFE!"

There are plugins that not every other paysite has. Use those. If they cost more, try them out and see if it pays off for you.

Some of the bigger companies buy pretty much everything on the market. That's their strength, throw enough of everything and hopefully the customer will find a couple things that will keep him around.

The sites you see that purchase exclusive content don't do it because it makes them feel proud that they have something nobody else does. They aren't fools, the investment pays off for them.

That said, i've seen exclusive content sites fail miserably as well, there are so many factors in running a successful paysite operation that just isolating one thing is hard.
Also retention rates at exclusive content sites ain't all that either these days.

I know it would piss me off if i joined a site and i'd seen all the content before.

Holio has improved over the years. Problem is EVERY customer has seen it before too many times. He wouldn't have let his last membership lapse if he was attached to Holio's plugins.
