Real trades possible or scripts needed?
Okay this is my first thread and yes I'm new around here. Been mainly doing avs and link sites about 2 years now.
Is it possible to trade traffic without using a script or without one will you never get to a high traffic level? Say the site is around 5K now. What I mean of course is the skimming going on to the trades gets the traffic up on the site. If you have a clean site and gallery list with no skimming but the trades in a top 10 or 20 list as well as trades listed all over the site can you expect to get some decent traffic out to those trades? Will the surfers click those trades? |
Its possible. Look at elephantlist for example.

Yes I do see that
But he has a ton of traffic right now. Just wondering if for a tgp a trade script is really really needed. If the site updates good quality daily content and buys traffic to entice bookmarkers and feeds some other traffic? What are the thoughts? (I'm gonna try it anyway so fuck it. We shall see) |
Its quite possible, but you need to watch your sources...
All trade scripts are doing, is sending hits to a trade.. pretty simple. =) Without using a trade script, its kinda hard to tell exactly how many people are sending you hits... you're dealing with a bigger amount of trust than anything else. Id suggest installing a trade script, or a REAL good counter, and just not using the trading link code... that way you can see who is sending you traffic, etc. If its people you know, then go for it, dont use a trade script, and just link to them with a perm link... and hope they have some mechanics to measure their trade on their end... If its people you don't know, I'd think about it real hard if you wanna put a good amt of time into it |
Thanks Drew
Using the script just to count in hits. Sounds smart. I was thinking that those I'm sending hits too do have a script and will send back the appropriate hits to me. |
Yeah hardlinks work if the other site is using a script to count your traffic.
If two people just place a hardlink to each other its very likely the trade could be inbalanced. (one side is sending more traffic then the other) |
I've used ClickZs to track my incoming and outgoing, and gotten the site to over 100k. A friend of mine had his sites over 200k doing the same. It can be done. Is it easy? NO.
When you trade with perm links to a single site, you have to re-arrange your trade spots any time you add a new trade, or a trade changes for some reason. For this reason, running a trade site with a script doing skimming and random outs is much less time consuming. |
Geesh, I am still trying to figure out how to get mine to over 10k a day. Thats with a trade script.

And I'm not concerned with getting it to 100K, but more than 5K of course though. |
Trusting people to click on the top list?... Well - I assume only the bored ones will do that. I mean - if your site is good and people can see it, and its interesting and attracting, they are not likely to go to your traders through the top-list. Sure some will do but not many.
Thats why skimming is used so much. Another option is to have "traps" where you have some catchy phrase linking to your traders. In both skimming and "traps" you can't use hard-links because its not a single destination. If you want to increase your traffic, trading is a good choice. Regardless of a script or traffic management. BUT using hard-links and top-list only is less effective. There are services that you might want to use as alternative to buying a $300-600 script. (hint hint [look at my sig :winkwink: ]) |
sorry xxxmanager, i had to step out. I'll take a look at your stuff. thanks
