I still dont understand this whole blog thing...

There are millions of blogs out there now, why would someone want to come to yours everyday?

Someone please help.

darksoul 11-29-2007 12:09 AM

because most blogs are shit
create one with original content that says something
and people will come.

Hotrocket 11-29-2007 02:42 AM

lol there are millions of SPLOGS..many less real, original content blogs.

Plus the adult webmaster has a totally distorted concept of what a blog is...most just use it as a private tgp/mgp with sponsor provided RSS feeds.

There are some very interesting mainstream blogs out there, I read several every day...why do I go back every day?..fresh, original, well written content and relevant, targeted information on the subjects I am interested in.

Pornwolf 11-29-2007 02:50 AM

Most blogs that have quality content are actually promoted and have real personality plus they superserve the audience. The rest are splogs that just gamble on getting some SE traffic. Surfers can smell the difference.

Take Rochard's blog vs most others for instance. It looks fucking good and he doesn't just add random pics. http://www.rochardsbunnyranch.com/blog/

There's a few others but it's late and I can't think straight right now.

The purpose of splogs isn't necessarily just getting traffic themselves, they can be used for various other purposes.

Gambling ? If you know what you are doing, it certainly isn't. Search engine rankings should never be based on luck...if you have to gamble, you don't know how the game is played.

(Speaking from experience with mainstream)

Most are SPLOGs. The others are online "diaries" that get abandoned almost as soon as they are put up. Then there's blogs that are sporadically updated. Then there's some with some mild traction and decent link impact. And, finally, at the extreme right of the curve, are blogs with a) personality b) tight connections to a network of other bloggers with their own following c) established fan base d) extensive link network, etc etc you get the picture.

Ok Mr. Literal. Thanks for the clarification. ;)

The vast majority of splogs are crapshoots at SE traffic.

Semi-Retired-Dave 11-29-2007 09:31 AM

Interesting.

~Ray 11-29-2007 09:57 AM

same reason you come here everyday.. to see what's up.

Azoy? 11-29-2007 10:06 AM

what's not to understand ?

MediaGuy 11-29-2007 10:08 AM

Yeah lots of adult blogs are just variations on gallery posting... i use our LCN Girls Blog to keep members and bookmark-surfers up to date on new girls, events, and attract traffic on a SE basis, but I do it manually.

Think of a blog as a diary or journal, too, because that's what most personal blogs are or have become.

There's political blogs too which allow armchair pundits to vent on what they see on Meet The Press.

It's a tool. You can use it to bang or saw or screw lol or come up with something new. Check out a software and think how you could use it...

Sarah_Jayne 11-29-2007 10:10 AM

People come to mine everyday because I tend to target fetishes and make it feel like the one place where they are safe to have their fetish and express it. Then I push them to my Cyberage based fetish sites :)

Kron 11-29-2007 10:11 AM

They come everyday to see new post on your quality blog (new pictures or video)

blogman9 11-29-2007 01:09 PM

On my splogs: everyday new content: 60% SE and 40% bookmark

tranza 11-29-2007 01:25 PM

Blogs are so overrated!

candyflip 11-29-2007 01:49 PM

Just think of them as freesites. That's all they are. Just easier to make because now people don't even need basic html knowledge to make up. Most sponsors offer 1 click Wordpress installs, so the bar for entry has been siginifcantly lowered.

Now I understand..:thumbsup
I guess if you keep it updated daily and they like what you have to offer, they will keeping coming back to the same one. Sorry, I've been out of the blog world.

Thanks man. That made my day.

Just keep in mind when reading my blog that it's pretty much all fake. Except for the recent post where my car got blown away by a Mercedes - that part was real.

I don't get the RSS thing. What's the point of having a blog that has everyone else content on it?

It would be interesting to know how well splogs convert in comparision to handwritten ones. And also, how much traffic the splogs get in comparision to handwritten after a year of going live.

Tjeezers 11-29-2007 06:42 PM

i dont understand blogs also

Shagbunny 11-29-2007 07:10 PM

There are millions of TGP's and lots of AVS's out there. Why would anyone want to go to yours everyday?

Thank about that.

madfuck 11-30-2007 12:06 AM

Well, AVS sites are kind of like TGP sites but without all the free stuff, they like what they see, and they are in. Then they get access to over 300K sites and all the extra bonuses we give them.

Someone's personal site has stories about them, with a new picture here and there. It just looks like a lot of work to update every day. And I think as soon as you try to upsell something on your personal blog, that may scare off your visitor that comes to your blog daily to read your stories. :Oh crap

It's for affiliates. If you can generate an RSS feed that contains the affiliate's referral code in each link to the blog or whatever source, galleries, site tour, etc..., you're effectively syndicating a content feed that lets a lot of otherwise lazy or busy affiliates populate pages with content without having to pay too much attention since the RSS feed is, say, updated everytime the blog is.

sniperwolf 11-30-2007 11:59 AM

yeah, agree with tranza! they are overrated! :disgust:

They are just use for the sake of link building and Ads!

fuzebox 11-30-2007 12:22 PM

And this is different than, say, creating 10 AVS sites per day? :winkwink:

Lots of blogs = lots of SE traffic generally.

Walrus 11-30-2007 03:10 PM

baddog recommends AVS.

RSS should be used to supplement your content and to insure that there is fresh content daily.

JD 11-30-2007 03:18 PM

i build blog networks for people ;) if anyone's interested lmk

One should remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Well, to be honest, my best affiliates have only 1 or 2 AVS sites then promote them rather than have hundreds. Of course, they are probably going after the upsell and are giving me more content, so I won't complain.

teg0 11-30-2007 04:18 PM

its more seo than anything. have a targeted block and try to get good ranking with it.
