Pentae - I got a question for ya!

Since hosting porn is illegal in australia, what does the law say about you streaming video from Brisbane on your site?

pentae 09-24-2002 09:02 PM

Getting really sick of this question.... :)

QUESTION: "Isnt porn illegal in Australia?"

ANSWER: "Yes. If you host it here. If you host it on American servers, our government cannot do shit. Even if the stream or operation of business originates here."

And anyway, why would we want to host in Australia? You would have to be 1 beer short of a six pack.

Hosting porn in Australia would be stupid. Not just 'cause it's illegal, but the fac that most users are american, and it's a fuckload more expensive.

So its legal to stream it from Oz?

Brown Bear 09-24-2002 09:21 PM

What if you stream it to members in Australia?

pentae 09-24-2002 09:33 PM

Tts not streaming from servers here.. its being sent to an american server, and broadcast to the world from there.

This means if an Australian is watching it, its bouncing across the Pacific Ocean and back again.

Isn't it really expensive to send that much video from Australia? What kind of net connection do you have for sending that from Oz to the US?

pentae 09-24-2002 09:39 PM

Your not understanding.

Two single streams, dialup and broadband (2) are sent to our big chunky server in the states. It is then broadcast to the rest of the world from there. It's called multi-casting. :)

Speaking of N&L, I was in there today.. I have a suprise for everyone on this board soon. Stay tuned ;)

Yes, but here is my question:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're sending video to a server in the US 24hrs a day right? Isn't that expensive? I heard that rates for broadband in Oz were really high. What kind of connection do you use to send the video?
