If my PO Box is too full, checks are return to sender, will reissue the checks?

Anybody know? I just found out my PO Box in America has been totally full, so I seen some mail has been "returning to senders", some were probably checks, but I dont know for sure

Sponsors, what is your procedures if you send a check and it's returned to you? do you reiussue the checks?

thanks

This reminds me of "Ty" in Caddyshack with all his uncashed checks laying around : )

If you can't empty it regulary consider a box for incoming checks only. Junk mail will fill up anything quickly.

We contact and reissue checks if they're returned.

You should try a USPS caller service:

wow thats weird if you get a po box here and its full theyll just keep stuff till you collect it

Ecksent 11-28-2007 09:16 AM

If mine is full, they just put a yellow card in it and mark it "overflow", keeping all my stuff until I pick it up. Kinda nice since they throw out all the flyers and shit too.

I hate PO boxes. I keep getting collection notices for some mexican woman that I have never heard of not to mention tons and tons of junk mail. I've had that box for about a year now but the notices just keep coming. Probably less than 1/3 of the mail that comes to my box is actually for me.

Try getting a temporary forwarding address. Just make sure you time it right, not sure the USP will do this (they still don't understand that terrorists don't need to use their service), but get a private box and another one wherever you're going to be for a certain length of time.

Just for future reference

CC Bill will NOT send again. Last year one of their checks to me got returned to them in the mail. There was no reason for that...I have a huge mailbox. Just a glitch at the postal service.
I didn't really notice it for about 4 months. Then I was doing some accounting work on my bank account and realized I hadn't got a check from CC Bill in 4 months!
I got in contact with them and they told me it is their policy when that happens to STOP sending checks until they are contacted.
I ended up getting a check for over 30 grand that had accrued.
So "NO", not all companies will just automatically re-send.
So if I were you I would make sure to get your mail every day.

camsense contacted me about a returned cheque. The idiots at the post office sent back a properly addressed envelope. I'm pretty sure something similar happened with lightspeedcash as well, they let me know that a cheque came back.

Fat Panda 11-28-2007 06:36 PM

i have had a few reissued checks

minusonebit 11-28-2007 06:45 PM

Try getting a box at www.maillinkplus.com instead of through the post office. They let you see what is in your mailbox on the web (you can even request scans of the envelope and "X" number of pages inside the envelope for an additional fee) and then you can select what to have forwarded to you using the web interface and tell them to trash or continue to hold the rest.

Been using them for years now.
