Any Pinnacle Studio 9 experts here?

Once again it's time to make some room on my hard drive(s) and...

I've been spending the past day and a half trying to download a 55 minute edited avi file onto tape via firewire and...

Every seven minutes or so the damn video download will freeze for a second or so, effectively ruining the download. I know the problem isn't with the avi file itself because it never freezes in the same place twice.

I swore off on back-up drives long ago (don't ask), so that's not an option.

    Suggestions anyone????

    You're dropping frames.

Either upgrade your computer or get a larger HD. That's the first thing I would check. Beyond that.....Is this a dedicated video machine or are you using it for other shit...especially while trying to capture?

Actually I'm not, or at least I don't think so. On playback the audio on the affected tape doesn't skip a beat, although the picture will remain frozen for a second or so. Moreover my Pinnacle interface registers zero dropped frames (for what that's worth).

        Pretty much.

I photoshop screengrabs on the same machine but never during video applications.

I have an older machine that I use for net applications.

It's only two years old and it (and the secondary drive) are as big as the box will hold.

I'm no expert but I do happen to have 2 copies of studio 11 ulimate brand new, 1 never opened, fully lisenced that im looking to sell :P Bought them and didnt use them intime to return them, then once i tested one, i found out it could output 1080iHD in AVI, so theyre no good to me.

                    Try doing a disk defrag.

I use studio pinnacle studio plus, but have never run into this problem. At first, I thought you may not have enough available space on your HD to complete the capture.
I would suggest getting in touch with tech support and give them a shot at your situation.
I would definitely be interested to hear what may be causing this in case I run into this problem in the future.

The problem seems a little deeper than I first assumed.

I just tried saving the project onto a DVD as an avi file and that didn't work either (only the first 30 seconds or so of downloaded content are usable).

Seems that the issue goes beyond Pinnacle.

I was thinking maybe the avi file is corrupted but the damn thing plays back just fine (on any and all players) on the machine I'm trying to download it from.

                          Help !!!
