Be carefull business thread: Suggestions needed for a project management system
Hi,
I'm in urgent need of some kind of intranet project management groupware kinda script.....I don't know how it's officially called but what I'm looking for is a system where I can add all our projects, todo list, notes, time track thing that records time worked on every project per person, contact list manager, etc, etc has to be able to setup for multiple accounts with seperate permissions and shit.....will run on linux server so I don't need lotus or Microsoft kinda stuff.....So if you know of anything that does this kinda stuff and that's decent than I'd love to hear about it....before I waste 6 hours searching myself for it before deciding all sucks and start reinventing the wheel myself. I'm sure there must be something decent out there. I prefer open source so that I can modify stuff myself and/or write addons I need which aren't available in the software itself yet..... Thanks a lot......make me happy I could really save the time for not having to code this myself from scratch...... :thumbsup |
I guess a kinda wiki thing on steroids is what I need :-)

This is what I need.....but this is for suse/redhat and not open source so I
can't use this one....but something similar would be perfect.....I don't need the outlook or other interface shit..like this one has..... http://www.open-xchange.com/ |

This one even has the drap/drop FF feature that google notes has.....that's da bomb but I can live without it and code the FF addon myself....that's not too much work keep em coming :) |
Check out Basecamp. It's got a tiered payment system. Starts out free for small projects and they you pay to play for fuller featured access. We love it:
http://www.basecamphq.com/ This is web based too, no need to install anything. |
That's the best one I found so far.....anyone has a better one? This looks a bit
cluthered.....but will do if there's nothing better http://www.egroupware.org/ |

Basecamp is everything I could ask for and more...nothing for me to maintain. DotProject was probably the next best thing. |

check out http://www.egroupware.org I just installed it and configured it in under 30 minutes and imho it's MUCH better than the 2 mentioned above....so far what I see I really like, it's highly configurable and flexible.....all is in modules instead of 1 big ass application and I haven't found anything yet that doesn't work..... I guess it also depends on your needs and taste....so I appreciate the input you gave me....and urge you to at least check out the one I mentioned as I think it's quite fucking awesome.... :winkwink::thumbsup |
