Wordpress can be a real pain if you have any issues with it. Trying to solve bugs is like pulling teeth with no real tech support and thousands of entries on their forums about any possible topic.

But it's still the best blogging software out there as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes it's a matter of finding the right version to use, or getting a really really sympathetic tech guy on your host who knows a lot about it and is willing to take the time to help you out.

I recommend wordpress.

seoguy 11-26-2007 02:01 PM

It depends on what you want. If you want to run one or a few blogs with a few hits traffic a day and if you don't mind updating the script all the time wordpress is for you.

If you want to have an high traffic established blog then expression engine or movable type would be what you're looking for (or textpattern if support is not that important to you)

If you want to want to control lots of blogs then I would recommend Blogs Organizer and not wordpress MU, simply because it's designed for webmasters with unlimited blogs and doesn't kill your server... Besides that it's easy to handle and you have real good support...

remii 11-26-2007 02:01 PM

moveable type but only free for personal use ...

I'm really looking into the Blogs Organizer scripts. I'm happy to see some good responses like from Dave above.

twan 11-27-2007 08:09 AM

Not really a script, but more a editor that works with all blog scripts:

fris 11-27-2007 09:20 AM

plenty of other blog scripts, but for more features (plugins) nothing gets better than wordpress

yumma 11-27-2007 09:27 AM

write own engines

alby_persignup 11-27-2007 11:00 AM

Does Blogs Organizer work on GoDaddy?

seoguy 01-09-2008 08:44 AM

why shouldn't it?

teg0 01-09-2008 09:02 AM

serendipity is nice, but if you run it you want to remove all tags on the site that say Powered By Serendipity and remove anything that says what version you are running because serendipity gets exploited all the time. You have to really make sure you stay up to date with it. Its kind of a shame because it works nicely, but i got tried of seeing my blog owned.

I still like wordpress.

xentech 01-09-2008 09:28 AM

Blogs organizer looks well good. When I get a server I am definately getting that :)

Rochard 01-09-2008 10:46 AM

I use Wordpress but rarely have to log in. I use Blog Desk to write my posts.

http://www.blogdesk.org/en/index.htm

It's a nifty bit of software that sort of looks like MS Word where you write your posts. I run all of my blogs through Blog Desk and never have to hit Wordpress.
