Software You Can't Afford Not To Use

List any and all software that you couldn't *live* without.

Also, a brief description of what the software does would be nice for those that don't know!

My list:

Visual Basic 6 - Windows programming
Notepad - Edit the files
WS_FTP - File Transfer Protocol client ( up/down loads file to/from server)
Firefox - I love teh tabs
Synergy - Share mouse/keyboard across multiple computers (as well as clipboard)
Comodo - Awesome firewall
Avast - Elite antivirus
Outlook - gotta check teh e-mails
CCleaner - Keeps the PC tidy
Advanced Administrative Tools -

All the above are free with the exceptions of VB6 & AATools, and yes I paid for both of them!

Firefox. Notepad. NotepadEX. PSpad. HTMLkit. Nero. Daemon Tools. Steam/Counterstrike. ICQ. Thumbs Plus. Flashget/Flashgot. Noscript. FireFTP. Atomic Alarm Clock. VLC. AVG. Photoshop CS2. G-mail.

The ones I use the most are bold. Some you might not know are:

PSpad & NotpadEX & HTMLkit- super-duper text/code editors.
Daemon Tools- mounts images as virtual optical drives.
Noscript- Firefox extension, disables scripts while browsing until added to the whitelist by domain.
Flashget- download manager & Flashgot - download manager manager (firefox extension that adds compatibility with your download managers to Firefox)
FireFTP: Free Firefox embedded FTP client.
VLC- video player that will play the shit out of just about any video (or sound) file, even without funky codecs and bloatware.

Years I decided to invest a couple of days into learning a powerful network
operating system (Linux) in order to save hundreds of hours of clicking later,
so my list is:

vi (actually vim, a text editor)
ssh (to connect to to other machines)
Mozilla Seamonkey (browser)
Balsa (email)
ncftp (powerful FTP client)

Lots of little utility scripts I wrote myself, like the script which pointed
out this thread to me.
