CFL Gray Cup game... congrats to Saskachewan Rough Riders

Saskachewan Rough Riders -- 23
Winnipeg Blue Bombers ------ 19

Now the crying ---

If only our dimwitted QB had of just hung onto the ball in that last Winnipeg play and just ran for the 3 or 4 yards they needed for the 1st down, instead of mindlessly throwing the pass right into an interception. Had he done that they were on a roll with huge momentum that very well could have won the game for them.

All in all it was a pretty good game. Congrats to the green Riders.

Lenny Kravitz's half time show wasn't too bad either. Not a huge fan of his but he made a decent show of it.

If you watched it, what did you think?

If you didn't watch it and have no clue about it, make a dumbass comment anyway. :D

Spunky 11-25-2007 08:35 PM

I had it on in the background..Winnipeg played a pretty good game considering the QB was a backup

pornask 11-25-2007 08:36 PM

let me make a dumbass comment - I didn't understand a damn thing of what you have said. Except from Lenny Kravitz something...

Spunky 11-25-2007 08:39 PM

Gray cup is equivalent to the Super bowl

Iron Fist 11-25-2007 08:42 PM

Go figure.... Winnipeg sucks - and yes, I live here and it still sucks. We suck so bad we can't even have our own hockey team.

He shows promise though. Has a pretty good arm, good accuracy at times, has some good moves on the run. He just needs a lot more experience and he could become first rate.

If the Bombers hang onto him I wouldn't complain. But as it stands he's no Kevin Glenn.

We have a hockey team, The Manitoba Moose.
They may only be AHL, but at least its still hockey.

Can't you receive a point even if the field goal is missed?

Yes and no.

No in the sense that if you kick it wide and the ball isn't catchable, then there is no points awarded at all.

Yes, if it's say, a long FG and the ball goes wide but IS catchable (meaning it doesn't sail through the endzone and into the back netting up high), I suppose a team could have their kick returns guy try to run it back. If he can't make it out of the endzone and is forced to take a knee it would be a safety (2 pts) for the kicking team... but I doubt anyone would try that. I mean why, when you start from where they tried to kick the FG from?

I've only seen one team do that recently (as in this year), try to return a missed FG, and it wasn't in the CFL.... it was the Bears, and it was Devon Hester, and he ran it back (over 100 yards) for a TD. Made the other team look like goofballs.

Lance69 11-26-2007 01:31 AM

Good game, Winnipeg did have some good defensive plays... and some not so good ones.

Now now, let's have no sour grapes here.

Fact is the Bombers allowed them to take the win. The Riders played like shit in the first half and Winnipeg failed to capitalize on those opportunities plain and simple. The score at halftime should have been Wpg: 20, Sask: 3. At least!

I bet the fans trashed what passes for a downtown in Regina last night though. :D

Did they?

95% of the Saskatchewan starting line up of players are American... and they call it the Canadian Football League.... What a shame...

They barely beat a Winnipeg team that was without their starting QB.

How good could they be?

:D

JayDeeZee 11-26-2007 07:56 AM

I was expecting Sask to blow Wpg away! But it was a great game.

Dinwitty did okay, but he did make a few rookie mistakes.

Odie 11-26-2007 10:44 AM

was a great game!! I was there on the sidelines wi/ the roughriders!!

wpg really did give it away tho...ssk had 2 or 3 turnovers in the first 10 min!

Axeman 11-26-2007 10:54 AM

As long as the CFL schedules the game up against the NFL then it will lose my viewer ship every single time. Denver/Chicago had me by a landslide.

During commercials I tried watching the Grey Cup but couldn't be bothered.

Put the Grey Cup on Friday nights and I may tune in.

Shagbunny 11-26-2007 10:57 AM

What's the diff between "Grey" and "Gray"? Is it one is English and other Americanized? Just curious :)

ronaldo 11-26-2007 11:08 AM

KERRY JOSEPH 13/34 181 yds 1 INT, 1 TD- League MVP
RYAN DINWIDDIE 15/33 225 yds 3 INT 1 TD-Starting his first CFL game

Simply put, with the exception of 2 or 3 draw plays by Joseph, the WPG defense dominated the game. They had to shut down the league MVP. Saskatchewan had to shut down someone who'd thrown 24 passes all year. Look at the numbers above and just imagine if the Bombers had Glenn. I don't think he's a great quarterback by any means, but he would have made the difference and the Bombers would have won handily imo.

The ONLY way Stegall was going to retire btw is if they had won the game and he was the games MVP. Mark my word, he'll be back next year. But win or lose, it'll definitely be his last season.

In this particular case, in 1909, the Grey Cup was donated by the then Governor General of Canada, Earl Grey.

Shocking.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced Thursday that Milt Stegall will be back for another season with the club.

I thought the all time greatest CFL coach was former Winnipeg Blue Bomber coach Bud Grant?

:D
