If you were #1 on Google what would you do? Blog Question
If you were #1 on google for a few terms for a blog you have. Would you link the pictures in your posts to a FHG or straight to the sponsor?
|
straight to the tour or join page :thumbsup
|
Is your blog base url number 1 or a post page?
|
Sponsor.
If the sponsor is worth a shit, their tour should accomplish a signup even better than a fhg. Why tempt fate? Remove the middle man (fhg). My opinion. |
Paysite of a sponsor DIRECTLY related to the term you rank high for.
|
Main page is.

Add a big FP add to the header then you will still get the click thrus and you will get the benifit of giving out some content to get bookmarkers and Rss subscribers. Check out the Brazzers big ass dynamic ads they might have something for you |
What niche is it?
|
........straight to tour and join pages....

I'd say go straight to the join page too if I owned sites and you were an affiliate. what the fuck do I care if you build up your own site or not. do you want to be here for 6 months or 6 years and promote shit loads of sponsors ...

I really don't use FHGs anymore. They don't convert as well as when I just send the person right to the tour page.

We don't know what the exact number one terms are. Surely you don't believe all Google terms are equal?
To be number one with : Girls who eat watermelon seeds from bleeding anuses is not as good as sexy Certainly if you are number one with a GREAT term, build on it and make your way into the upper echelons of traffic and money. I suspect we are not talking about those terms, but if we are, my original advice would be entirely wrong. Take care of number one, always. |
Straight to the tour. The less clicks the better.
|
For a couple of months I was number one on Google for the keyword "fisting."
What did I do? I raked in the money . . . |

and I'm not saying sponsors are any less interested in you making money with my comment - just in case it was taken that way. I'm saying the way I think ( 2 cents ) things are going in the future google is cracking down on affiliate sites and you better come up with something on your own to stay there. Stories, illustrations, flash ... licensed content. Not linking directly to the sponsor but to a page with the sponsor link on it for example. I don't know it all or try to pretend I do I've just watched how things change with them for years and things have changed a lot recently. I think it depends on your niche and domain name also like other guys said if you're going to link directly to the sponsor or not ...
|
depends on your goals for the site.
Linking to the tour from thumbs in posts will get sales but leaves very little reason for anyone to bookmark your blog. Linking to fhgs/freesites/etc will give your surfers more of a reason to come back/bookmark your blog. Then there's always using embeded content in your posts. Put flashvids in your posts linked to the tour :) |

looking at stats for a number of sites, and with keywords dancing up and down the ranks, I get the impression that google "dials you in" to a certain traffic level, based on who knows what in their algorithm, and adjusts your keyword positions based on that level
it seems to me too coincidental that sites with many different indexed pages and keywords seem to average out to a pretty steady level of traffic... seems like when you look one day and see a big move in the rankings for a keyword and think you are on to a big rise that somehow things get adjusted in a hurry and your traffic levels level off again maybe I just haven't been lucky enough to experience any great things from google recently, do any of you have any luck in seeing big traffic gains sent from google overnight that persist for weeks and months after? |
This is what I have been doing. I think I will stick with it. Im getting pretty good results with it. :thumbsup
