Why are most CHEATERS outside the USA ???

It seems that most CHEATERS at click thru's and per signups
and even partnerships are outside the USA.

Canadians are high on the list of cheaters, not paysite
owners, but invidual webmasters themselves. Using deceptive
methods to cheat.

Back when I was with Xpics.. I cancelled cheaters all day
everyday, 75% were from Canada.

France is also on the list including a few other European
areas.

Anyone else have feedback ?? Perhaps the lure of
easy money and the value of the US dollar compared to
these other places is the reason itself.

maybe unemployment is lower in the US?

Your missing the point my friend, if someone from another country scams you i would love to see your price tag on suing the fucker to get your money back... I hear international lawsuits are expensive!

I has one guy cheat me for 700 USD, from canada and a Russian. I was going to kick his fucking ass until i found out he was like only 16.. Im still debating finding this guy and giving him a couple smacks

TeraBabes 09-23-2002 12:23 PM

Well, most of the world's population is outside the USA. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Ya know, I am Canadian, and I don't even doubt that he's right - a lot of the spam I am getting lately is coming from Canadian dialup and ADSL connections. Some of it even close to me - I wish I had an in at the telephone company, I'd go kick some spammer ass.

Cheers,

I feel offended

Kimmykim 09-23-2002 03:29 PM

Well let's see, out of the holds I put on checks today, about half were from Missauga Ontario, three were eastern european with addresses in Brooklyn, and only one other was from US.

I'm not sure why the Canadians cheat, I think it's something to do with the socialist mentality that everyone is supposed to get the same thing no matter how you get there...

As for the others, thats easy -- if someone lives in a country where 30 dollars a day will make them live like kings, the temptation to cheat is just too much...

i think Kimmy Kim's point about a $30 USD cheat meaning much more to folks in parts other than the US is quite valid. the opportunity cost is just too generous when considering program owner's recources - besides blasting folks on GFY etc.

I know some Americans miss this, but, um...

Most PEOPLE are from outside the USA.

Good point. Anyone have any stats on this point?

gothweb 09-23-2002 04:00 PM

Yes, most Internet users are outside the USA. That's a no-brainer. Really.

300 million americans, tops. Say there are 60% of Americans online... That is 180 million on the internet. There are 6 billion people in the rest of the world. So call it 5.7 billion after america. For there to be more people on the internet outside the USA, 3% of the population of the rest of the world would have to be on the internet. 3%. Or around 5% each of just China and India.

FATPad 09-23-2002 04:39 PM

Or maybe it's just easier for all the American owned and operated sponsorship programs to sue the shit out of American cheaters.

I don't know the actual figure but I think I have read that half, or more, of the worlds population does not have indoor plumbing and electricity this would change your math. For those that do have electricity what percentage of this population can afford a computer and the expense of being online? This also would change your math.

Exactly. Who cares how many people there are in the world? It doesn't mean they have credit cards, Internet access, computers, electricity... and are literate. How many people does China have? Around two billion? Or is it just one? I thought I remember reading somewhere that its pretty damn hard for the Chinese to get credit cards. Oops, there goes one billion people out of the picture. Then should we take the billion people in India?

It all goes to cost of living.
Why more Canadians cheat then americans, cost of living. Just like some of the former USSR places. They can live like kings on $30 a day. Canadians can live like kings for 1/3 to 1/2 of what americans do, or much less, depending on the city. Hell, I just got a sexxxxxxy condo in the works of being finalized, my weekly mortgage payments:
$124.63/week about $80US/week
so that's like 80*4.3=$344US/month
or 8-10 per signup, signups pay my rent. I doubt someone in Socal or NYC could say the same?

(also, 50-60% of Canadians have high speed access. must higher % then the US)

I read an article saying China is on track to have the most internet users in the world.
If they don't have CC, then setup your paysite to handle other methods of payment.

gothweb 09-23-2002 06:01 PM

I think it is safe to say that my little bit of "math" was just to show how easy it would be for the US internet populat to be well under half the total. Yes, there are all sorts of people who aren't reasonable candidates for internet... but a Heaping Shitload are in the right economic class to have it-- in fact, a Heaping Shitload *do* have internet access.

My point was this... The US is a tiny part of the world.

Let me put it another way... The US is a tiny part of the industrialized world. Take most of Europe, large parts of Asia, most of Australia, reasonable chunks of South America, some of Africa, and even the *rest* of North America. Rule out all the super-poor regions. You still have a lot of people who aren't Americans, who can afford to have internet access.

Yes, numbers would have been better... but I didn't have any. ;) Hence, a little theorizing based on nice super-simple numbers. More an illustration of something that should be obvious, than the reason that it is obvious.

9% of the Chinese have indoor plumbing. China censors what is allowed thru on the net, as evidenced by their hijacking of search engines lately. They don't want porn in their country. The per capita average income in China is about what, the average rebill on a monthly membership?

I can buy rice at the store cheaper than they can ship it over to pay me.

Ah -- two more people canned today -- both with US addresses and Russian email addresses, so now I have to go thru all the email addys in our program that match those and look thru the stats one by one to decide if we should just disallow webmasters with that email no matter where their address says they are.
